  • Luck plays a large part in landscape photography. I was incredibly lucky to be at Bamburgh on the night I shot this photograph. Everything was perfect, the light, the tides, the viewpoint. I’ve not been back since when everything just clicked the way it did that night.

  • Newton’s Three Laws of Motion A larger view can bee seen HERE If Isaac Newton could have written his ‘Three Laws of Motion’ using the / internet and a Photoblog as a media for self-expression… I reckon it would have looked something like this:

Sir Isaac Newton – born in Cambridge, England; 25th December 1642 – Died 1727. Today is the birthday of somebody very important in the history of our world, (not just the religious guy)! / He was a physicist, mathematician, and a thinker, who lived, studied and taught right here in Cambridge, England. In fact he lived a ten minute stroll away from where I am sitting right now typing this about him! Sir Isaac Newton was an English mathematician and physicist, the greatest single influence on theoretical physics until Einstein. / His most productive period was in 1665-7, when he retreated temporarily from Cambridge to his isolated home in Lincolnshire during the Great Plague. He discovered the Binomial Theorem, and made several other contributions to mathematics, notably Differential Calculus and its relationship with Integration. / A bitter quarrel with Leibniz ensued as to whcih of them had discovered calculus first. In his major treatise, Principia Mathematica (1687), Newton gave a mathematical description of the laws of mechanics and gravitation, and applied these to planetary and lunar motion. For most purposes Newtonian mechanics has survived even the introduction of Relativity Theory and Quantum Mechanics, to both of which it stands as a good approximation. Another influential work was Opticks (1704), which gave an account of Newton’s optical experiments and theories, including the discovery that white light is made up of a mixture of colours. In 1699 Newton was appointed Master of the Mint; he entered Parliament as MP for Cambridge University in 1701, and in 1703 was elected President of The Royal Society. Happy 365th Birthday Sir Isaac Newton!

Hi Everyone, this weekend (7-9th March 2008) was a hell of a weekend for me. Once again, I had media access and track access to photograph an International event which was being held at Bathurst, New South Wales on Mt. Panorama (home of the V8 race cars). The event was called the Newton’s Gravity Games which featured a number of events being run from the top of the Mountian (Skyline) right to Conrod Straight. The events included, Street Luge, Gravity Bikes, Speedboards, Hybrid Slalom, Giant Slalom, Freestyle Sliding, Buttboards, Downhill Inline, Carveboards and more. These guys and one girl (From Canada) travelled on their toys from about 50kph to 140kph on the street luge. I spent most of Saturday around Forest Elbow which is hard enough for the race cars to handle so just imagine taking the hair pin corner at 80 to 110kph on a luge or a buttboard and then coming unstuck and slamming into the hay bails…. Ouch, ouch and more ouch. I witnessed 2 broken legs, 4 broken arms, 1 broken wrist and I can’t even remember how many concussions and guys being knocked out for minutes which looked like they died. Anyway, I’ll be posting a number of crashes and a number of smooth well controlled photos very soon. The weekend was jam packed of extreme sports. I can’t wait for next year….....

  • 70kph Buttboard Crash
    by Bill Fonseca

    US$5.67–US$151.24

Those who don’t know what buttboard is. It’s a cross between a Luge and a skateboard really. No brakes and travels very fast. This guy is from England who came out for the 3 day event and goes home with a broken wrist and still finished overall in 3rd place. The accident happen on Saturday but he needed to compete yesterday (with his arm in plaster, and he did) to get that 3rd place…Absolutely crazy guy. There is another guy you can see that also hit the hay wall, which caused his broken wrist. / Unfortunately, I can’t show you more on this crash as I’m the ONLY photographer to capture the moment with a sequence of 12 photos will give me some $$$. I have already been approached from a number of people. /

  • According to statistics, this guy is currently rated second in the world, his name is Erik Lundberg from Sweden.
