  • newstead Underground pass at night

  • Taken at Newstead House garden. This skiper holds its wings erect and together when at rest. My passion is macro photography and being able to capture pictures of these beautiful creatures is a great joy. / Hand held Macro. / No post processing done on this photo. / This is a 1:1 macro picture.

  • Taken at Newstead Park. I used my macro twin lite mt-24ex flash to help capture this picture. These bugs are a useful bug in keeping the pest population down and are active for basically all of the year in QLD. This work is a macro photo which is ‘untouched’ – how you see it is how it came off the camera. My passion is macro photography and capturing pictures of what’s alive in the garden is also a great passion. It’s a great joy to be able to combine both loves.

  • I gotta say how much I love ‘weedy’ gardens! Anything too neat and you don’t see many butterflies or damselflies. Found this little gal this morning in a garden full of weeds – but also full of dragonflies (which just didn’t stay still for me :( ) and this Damselfly which did stay still – yah!! Taken at Newstead on my way home.

  • Gardenia flowers have a beautiful sweet scent. The flowers can be white or yellow and are produced singly or in semi-double and double forms along or at the ends of branches. The perfume from this flower filled the house for almost a week – it was beautiful. This photo is currently featured in the group “Simply White” on RedBubble.

  • This is an old tree sitting outside of Newstead House Brisbane

  • This is one of the lights from Newstead House, I love the floral work on it.

  • Photo taken at Newstead. Isn’t the purple of the flower wonderful.

  • A variety of shots of Brisbane

  • Taken at Newstead. Number 1

  • Taken from Newstead. Number 2

  • Sam Newstead Mural

  • On the entrance to Newstead Abbey, there are two heads on the wall, a king on one side and this queen on the other side. I liked the light too, so composed it with both. Canon 30D / 12/06/09 / F 4.5 / 1/15 / ISO 100

  • So which bench shall I choose? In the Grounds of Newstead Abbey in Nottinghamshire, UK. Canon 30D / 12/06/09 / F5.6 / 1/80 / ISO 100

  • This was taken at the Loddon River over behind where I live. A gorgeous little section with a swimming hole that will be ACE in summer… Taken on my Holga, with Portra 160 Neg. Straight out of the camera.

  • This gazebo is at the bend of the Brisbane River in Newstead Park which houses the famous and beautiful Newstead House. There was a lovely couple practising their dancing and a man totally oblivious to them and just sitting and watching the boats go by. Canon 5DMKII with Canon 16 – 35 f/2.8 L USM lens. This is part of my Social Doco on Brisbane and the people found with in her.
