”... for the times, they are a-changin’...” In With The New / It seems wholly appropriate to quote the masterful Bob Dylan for this, the latest edition of BubbleWRAP, because things are indeed changing. RedBubble is about creativity, inspiration and expression; about finding and re-igniting the secret passion you had when you were a child; about sharing your artistic endeavors and knowledge; about learning more and connecting with others; or simply being imaginative. Now, when RedBubble started out, we created BubbleWRAP as a way to connect our members and their stories – we would share with everyone what we found to be inspiring and noteworthy. Well now it’s time to turn the tables and hand over the reigns… that’s right – BubbleWRAP is now yours! We want YOU – the RedBubble Community – to drive the inspiration and creative content of BubbleWRAP. We want you to share with us everything that excites your inner child or anything that inspires your creative pursuits. They can be in any form that you find them, be it images or designs, stories or interviews, poetry or tshirts, quotes or collaborations – the list is endless. We want BubbleWRAP to become a showcase of your brilliance. This issue is the first attempt, so please support it and help us to improve the offering. Send any entries (such as image and tee reviews, member interviews or inspiring stories) to: / tom@redbubble.com Thanks must go to Sasufi, Evangeline, TBO & Danny for making this issue possible. Tom.

Howdy kids, I’ve never been good at keeping up a sad machine newsletter but here goes: / News: I just finished migrating my entire gallery at www.sadmachine.com to RedBubble. Now all of my available designs can be purchased through RedBubble. One of my designs (leave me alone) recently made it onto the RedBubble home page. I’ve had a couple of designs make it to the Featured clothing section but this was my first home page so it was really cool (for me) to see. I’d like to thank the person(s) involved for making that happen! / Design pipeline: I’m hard at work on my 1st “rock-it-boy!” animated short. The character concepts are all sketched out and the story line is coming together nicely. Now it’s just a matter of hammering out the finer points and then getting to it. I’ve already released a few rock-it-boy! shirts: rock-it-boy! rock-it-boy! : negative space remix rock-it-boy! : logo rock-it-boy! silver age remix rock-it-boy! now in stunning 3D remix rock-it-boy! sunday morning remix / - (available until 4-25-08) / rock-it-boy! silent era remix / – (available until 4-25-08) I have a couple more rock-it-boy! designs in the pipeline so some of the remixed designs will only be available for a limited time to make room for the new gear. In closing: / I’d really like to thank everyone that has taken the time to checkout and comment on my work. Thanks for all the compliments! Also thanks to the awesome folks that have shelled out their hard earned money to wear some of my art! Laters, eric murphy / artist / owner / www.sadmachine.com / info@sadmachine.com

PAINTERS IN MODERN TIMES – WHAT’S NEW 29th of January 2009 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Hi guys, I’m back with the newsletter! Did you miss me??? I have been so busy at work lately it has been a little bit hard to keep up with everything, so for those that have been waiting for the newsletter or a response to something I apologize. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We have had a lot of new members to PiMT’s (we are almost 1050 strong!) and to those people welcome once again. Just a reminder to our older members and to inform our new members I would like to bring this once again to your attention. This criteria also applies to our group challenges. INTEGRITY AND PAINTER’S IN MODERN TIMES When this group was first formed the very important aim of the group was to showcase the wonderful work of artists that use the traditional forms of painting without aid of technology besides that of documentation to upload. Redbubble is a very large website which includes all forms of art where traditionally made art is in a minority and it is a minority that we would like to protect in this group. / With this in mind I would like you to carefully consider the work you submit to the group and ask yourself these questions. Is my uploaded Image truly representative of the original painting? Things to consider; Have I cropped the image down to a detail without stating this in the description? – Creating abstract works from details of larger paintings is a legitimate form of art but unless you use it to create another painting or state that it is a detail of a larger work you are not representing your original. Have I digitally enhanced the saturation or contrast of the painting in such a way that it is no longer representative of the original?- It is important to represent your paintings as accurately as possible. Have I used a filter to change the appearance of the original – This is changing the original medium to a digital one. Is the image correctly focused and is the flare of the flash distorting my image? – You have put time, energy and love into creating your work and you should try to present it in the best light – Need help go here Have I included the medium, support and dimension of my work in the description? – This will validate your work and present your work professionally to the world. If your work falls into the categories above it may be removed It is very hard to tell the difference sometimes and while we try to clarify the origin of a few paintings it is important for you as members to protect the work of the group. There are many, many other groups on redbubble who cater to all different modes of work and while our paintings are diverse in genre and medium we are essentially makers of original paintings. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ................ PAINTERS IN MODERN TIMES – WHAT’S NEW 21st of March 2009 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ First an apology from myself. I have been a little absent this week because I have been helping put up a fantastic exhibition at Campbelltown Regional Art Gallery, NSW Australia. Gallery a was a gallery in Sydney that ran from 1964 to 1983 and was intergral in purchasing and promoting some fantastic modern art and it’s artists. Anyone watching the ABC News on Wednesday night would have see Ann Lewis talking about this exhibition and as an extra bonus would have seen my butt pushing a crate out of the gallery (Hmm embarassing). PAINTERS IN MODERN TIMES – WHAT’S NEW 27th of May, 2009 / ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Here at Painter’s in Modern Times we recognize those growing number of artists who are using computer programs and drawing tablets to create their work. However PiMt will always be a group which will showcase the more traditional artists among us. It is for this reason that we would like to create a group specific to Digital Painters and although their is already a group for digital painter’s we would like to create a group specific for artists who wish to join PiMT or are members of PiMT so they can showcase their work. Therefore we are thinking it would be an invitation group only. / Here is where we need your support. Unfortunately the winner of the first challenge was totally unexpected and I can asure you there will be no repeat of that behaviour!!! The next challenge will be “Human Emotions” which reflects this months featured artist genre of work. There will be plenty of time to create something new if you like or you can just add something you already have.
