Look at this image after browsing through my work on RedBubble and you might say “This looks really familiar…” That’s because the starting point for this piece was my older posting Running Down A Dream / Last night I was trying out some new textures and decided to try putting a different spin on this cyclist. I added two different texture layers and was amazed by the transformation in the image. The two versions of the image are like an electric and acoustic version of the same song… there are similarities but also very definite differences. If you take the time to look at both pieces I’d be curious to know if you have a preference.
“She’s a child of the wild blue yonder / Flying out of here…” / -John Hiatt/”Child Of The Wild Blue Yonder” Nikon D70/Nikon 75-300mm zoom. I went to an air show today at Greenwood Lake Airport. There were several world-class acrobatic pilots flying… or should I call them magicians? I’m still not sure I actually saw some of the amazing things these guys can do up in the sky.
“To invent an airplane is nothing. To build one is something. To fly is everything.” / -Otto Lilienthal Nikon D70/Tamron 200-400mm zoom Ron Saglimbene (Sag) is DR.SMOKE. He has been a pilot for almost thirty years and has been flying aerobatics in competition and airshows for fifteen. When he’s not flying airshows, he is an Oral Surgeon practicing in Wyckoff, New Jersey. This image is Dr Smoke in his Siai Marchetti SF260 performing at the 2009 Greenwood Lake Airshow. The man is an absolute magician in the air. Here’s a great youtube video of the performance
Nikon D70/Original Lens Baby I feel so blessed to have several trees in my yard that are always quite willing to be photographed. I shot this Japanese Maple yesterday afternoon in the most gloriously diffused overcast light you can imagine. The Lens Baby is perfect for this type of image.
