Work inspired by the amazing car chase at the end of Deathproof by Quentin Tarantino.. and also the amazing poster art from the movie.. ‘cept I threw in my WRX as the car.. bit different for me.. hope you like it
“As we melt let’s make no noise / Oh the profanation of our love / To tell the world our passing joys! / And we, besides, care less to miss / Our eyes and lips and hands.” (But honey, I’m not who you think I am!) mewithoutYou – Everything was Beautiful and Nothing Hurt Stock from Odessa11stock
The Paraganj bazaar in New Delhi.. we happened to arrive in a once a year Sikh festival.. by nightfall there was sword-fighting in the streets.. I love this shot because like everywhere in India, there’s always faces at every turn.. and I love the faces in this shot, from the guys at the front, to the bystanders in the shadows..
The Sydney Heritage Fleet brought the 3 masted, steel hulled James Craig to dock at historical Williamstown. Built in 1874, it carried cargo around the world, until it was abandoned in favor of the steam revolution and sunk in 1932. Restored in 1972.
Outside Inle Lake in Burma…farming the sweet nectar from Toddy Palms to make alcohol and fudgey caramel.
In a rickshaw in Udaipur, Rajasthan.. despite the grime and grit of flying along in one of these things along Indias dusty roads, you’re often dazzled by the wonderful saris of passers-by..
don’t stop the music.. if you haven’t heard of technoviking.. WHATS WRONG WITH YOU.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_1nzEFMjkI4
Following our noses to Hsipaws famous popcorn factory, we hear giggled “I love you”s from the side of the road…turning we see nothing, hearing only excited giggles.. we walk on, following a delicious, hearty smell only to again hear a “hello.. hello” this time we quickly spin to hear a small child squeal and run off to her friends, hiding behind a bamboo fence enclosing their village.. We wandered over and they giggled with excitement.. most of the children would have been under 8 years old, there was one girl who was a bit older and could speak very basic English.. The smaller children jostled for a photo, what strikes me is the intense look of anticipation on their faces… most all the shots we took show a similar expression.. the little girl with the straw hat was quieter and smaller and only approached us when we were leaving.. I hadn’t taken her photo yet.. / Technically the photo is very flawed.. it’s blown out and full of shadows but it’s such a beautiful expression that I just did what I could to present it…
we cast our roots deep / the grid extends its reach / things don’t look good / as we feel the ground wake / nothing will change / flames will walk the earth / and nothing will change things dont look good – genghis tron This is a slight departure from my usual travel photography… so my apologies to those watchers who keep expecting that sort of work.. I’ll be back to travel shots soon.. I’m just in a bit of a different head-space right now..
no dogs allowed… if they have assault rifles.. otherwise.. it’s okay
This was inspired by a wonderful Christian song, “Above all powers”, which talks of Jesus “like a rose trampled on the ground, You took the fall and thought of me above all.” / The original artwork is till available and can be purchased from www.veritasse.co.uk It is 76cm x 51cm and painted onto 4cm block canvas. It is painted around the edges of the canvas, so can be hung unframed.
From the marina at Williamstown.
Inle Lake, Burma.. for centuries it provides the income and resources for the communities around it. Farmers harvest the vast weed in such large quantities that they’re able to construct plantations on the lakes surface to grow vegetables… It’s an amazing place.
This reminds us that God sees us and is with us through all of life’s difficulties.
My fifth painting of the same subject, and the source of my artist’s pseudonym. I long for God’s love, power and refreshing to pour over my life.
The dove speaks of the Holy Spirit. The flower could be you or I. / Oil on box canvas. Original is 1 metre square. It is painted around the edges so could be hung unframed. Please contact me if you are interested in buying the original.
This is the fourth version of the same picture, but this time done in oils. It’s amazing how you can see the picture is the same in each case, but they each have an individual character. / This reassures us that God sees us and is protecting us even in the fiercest storms of life. / The original painting is for sale on the Veritasse website, www.veritasse.co.uk , which features the work of over 70 Christian artists.
I painted this to glorify the Three-in-One God whom I love. God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. / The painting is oil on canvas 24” square.
Found this old guy after wandering through some of the old forts on Santorini. Evidently it was a home made wine and we couldn’t resist a bottle of home made red for 3 euro…(you can just make out a scrubbed out 2)... anyway it was rocket fuel…actually more like a sweet port.. we were both smashed, or poisoned, or both… It was actually a pretty ordinary photo, there was shade and the white’s got way overblown but its such a beautiful portrait of a friendly old man who’s probably been doing the same thing everyday.
This was painted as a personal response, asking God to pour his His Holy Spirit over me. It was painted in acrylic on canvas. / It is also the reason I chose the name Waterfall, as I seem to keep coming back to painting the same image!
God holds us in the palm of His hand.
These poppies in my garden remind me of the verse in Matthew 6, where it says, “See how the lilies of the field grow. They do not labour or spin. yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendour was dressed like one of these.” (Granted these are poppies ratehr than lilies, but I somehow always imagine poppies when I hear that verse!)
Saw this bit of urban art on the train into Newport station. Chuckled out loud and went back to photograph it.
