Black sharpie on white mat board
Made after a conversation with my friend David about how he thinks that working is a form of theft. Thanks also to my muse kez for her curatorial suggestions here. / . / . / Based on a photograph released by the Huddersfield University precision technology centre of an ant carrying a 1mm square microchip. / . / . / See Worker Ant – Part 2 / . /

I was walking in Downtown Tribeca, NY last week when I looked up at this old building. It seems vacant and I had the sneaking suspicion that it would be gutted and totally redone. I imagined this old ad on the building would be gone—and so I shot it immediately. I see it as a historical view of Old New York. I did a bit of selective coloring play to get the message across more clearly. :)

Norway, the most beautiful country in the world – or so I personally think. Endlessly inspiring, every view mesmerising, I love it. I have tried to emphasise the ever-present tranquility by focusing on this pile of stones, quite a common site in western norway incidentaly. / I hope you like it!
Oils on canvas (50×70 cm) I had lots of fun painting this scene of three brothers hard at work on the beach… One little fellow is trying hard to remove clay and sand from the hole they dug but ends up dropping half his spadeful back into the water… Another little brother huffs and puffs his way up to the pool but his bucket is always half full by the time he reaches it… And the oldest brother… well, judging from the grin, he must be the ‘supervisor’... This painting was done at request from Lisa Wilson and the three brothers are her little sons. I used different photographs and with different poses to make up a story for this painting!! I hope you like it Lisa!!
Experimenting with Digital TTV ( – Not a Photoshop filter) – my first time! This is a very anonymous picture. Each of the three visible characters (dog included) are entirely personality-less, due to their backs being turned or heads obscured. And yet, the camera’s angle is facing up to the characters, from a very low angle. Draw conclusions to this as you wish.
Written by ~ Charles Dickens: And Angel Voices Say… The pure, the bright, the beautiful / That stirred our hearts in youth; / The impulses to wordless prayers, / The streams of love and truth; / The longing after something lost, / The spirit’s yearning cry; / The striving after better hopes… / These things can never die. The timid hand stretched forth to aid / A brother in his need; / A kindly word in grief’s dark hour / That proves a friend indeed; / The plea for mercy softly breathed / When justice threatens high; / The sorrow of a contrite heart… / These things shall never die. Let nothing pass, for every hand / Must find some work to do; / Lose not a chance to waken love; / Be firm and just and true; / So shall a light that cannot fade / Beam on thee from on high, / And angel voices say to thee… / “These things shall never die.” / All profit goes to Feed The Children As of November 29, 2009 ~ 995 views.
Taken out my back door.. 3 am for some reason in the snowstorm all appeared golden yellow maybe it was something to do with the lights on the buildings… but was somehow beautiful , silent & other worldly & the shadows really captivated me too… the effects are nature and light My first outdoor night shot with my Kodak Z1285 .

Digital fine art in oil painting style by Mariska / December/2009 This is a collaborate work with the very talented writer Anna-Marie Docherty aka Anaisnais. / I’ve read her beautiful poem and here is the result . Some new tomorrow / by Anaisnais In death we departed, / you knew your time had come. / Your body rose to meet last breath, / then sunk again, to hold / forever’s peace within your chest. Such frozen coldness set your bones, / grey/blue lips, syanosis undertones; / and what for me to do next, / but search your soul, / which lies not in your breast? Confused, perplexed, / I know you do not sleep; / but watch the world go by. / Not in the casket buried 6 foot deep, / yet in my heart and mind. A trace of sadness, / not understanding yet; / and nothing to lose. / So mournful these tears I cry, / unseen under the mist of time. Saying Goodbye the next life’s waiting, / I see the road back in different light. / Wavering unsafe over the horizon, / I conjure dream like wraiths; / sinister and heavy against the spirits. Where memories leap / you will not die, / for patiently you’ll wait; / and until then I know you’ll stand / like sentinal at gate. I know you keep a watch o’er us, / protect from harm / all those you loved. / Through long and lonely hours I sigh, / remembering long lost days gone by. You keep me warm / and comfort me in ways / Only you could ever know how / Until we meet again some day / some bright new tomorrow.
