steve like this one (bodymechanic). I will hang it in the next Gallery 26 show. It’s very textured, layered, and it has sparkles.

Early morning shoot at Wainuiomata Beach, the end of the world, not quite but the next stop is the south pole, wind that will slice your ears off and sand/gravel that will sand bast your car, not a place to swim. image taken on a Nikon D700 with a Tamron 17-35mm lens. I consider this to be my best work from 2008. Just had this done as a large canvas, just stunning. Other work in this series Claw Back the Sands of Time / Time and tide / Purple Dawn-the Rising / Dawn Arrives / Draw Back / Punk Rock / Orange Dawn / Side swiped! / 10m Vertical / Marble / Clawed from my feet / Last but not least
Oils on canvas (50×70 cm) I had lots of fun painting this scene of three brothers hard at work on the beach… One little fellow is trying hard to remove clay and sand from the hole they dug but ends up dropping half his spadeful back into the water… Another little brother huffs and puffs his way up to the pool but his bucket is always half full by the time he reaches it… And the oldest brother… well, judging from the grin, he must be the ‘supervisor’... This painting was done at request from Lisa Wilson and the three brothers are her little sons. I used different photographs and with different poses to make up a story for this painting!! I hope you like it Lisa!!

This was the last sunset that I shot last thursday with Henk Stolk heavily influenced by Henks treatment of the images from our shoot with models Zoe de B and Christie Wright at Titahi Bay, Henk is a master of Dark and sinister images. I’d passed this image up for not having my requirement for lots of flowing water, but the sky is fantastic, reminds me of the 186 AD eruption of what we now know as Lake Taupo, an eruption so violent it sent flaming red matter into the sky so far that it was seen as far as China and recorded by both the chinese and the Romans, this sunset with its saturated colours is almost prehistoric. Shot on nikon D700 with 17-35mm nikkor lens, processed in photoshop in my own version of HDR.
Shot on a shoot earlier this year with Henk Stolk at Wainuiomata beach, south cost north island new Zealand, great location but not for the feint hearted. Shot on a Nikon D700 with 17-35mm Nikkor Lens / Henk Stolk Orange
“Warm moonlight over my horizon, she’s a slice of heaven, yeah / Her love shines over my horizon, she’s a slice of heaven” Dave Dobbyn Shot at Wainuiomata Beach on the rugged wild south coast of new Zealand’s North Island, this was part of a mutual learning curve with Henk Stolk who I’m sure will never take another dry seascape again ;-) Shot on a Nikon D700 with 17-35mm Nikkor Lens / Check out what Henk shot, Wainuiomata Beach
Shot at Plimmerton Beach, on the rocks behind the Fire Station, the sea had calmed down after a week of pounding waves, made a change to shoot soft lapping waves. Re mastered in my own version of HDR for sunset HDR challenge Shot on a nikon D700, Tamron 17-35 lens
Shot to the left of Fyffe’s House, North Bay at Kaikoura on New Zealand’s South Island. the light started to become more a intense pink as we go closer to sun rise, shot about 10 mins after Dusky dawn Shot on a Nikon D700 with 17-35mm lens, with Cokin ND8 grad filter. / Dusky dawn
Shot at Makara Beach, west coast of lower North Island, New Zealand, looking back towards the point. Shot on a Nikon D700 with 17-35mm lens, with Cokin ND8 grad filter.
Shot in the North Bay at Kaikoura, 17, 07.09, low tide reflections, seal colony to the right, seaward Kaikoura ranges to the left. Shot on a Nikon D700 with 17-35mm Lens, Cokin ND8 soft grad, Raw files with Active D-Lighting on High. / Unpublished
Shot at Point Hallswell Light on Wellington Harbour, nearly passed this one up till i saw the pink thrown by sunrise, sunrise should be in the middle of the picture just above the lowest white cloud. This is why New Zealand called Aotearoa (land of the long white cloud) there it is, laying low across the tops of the hills and down towards the Hutt Valley. What would have made this shot perfect for me would have been a splash in the foreground, I’ll just have to settle for a great sky :-) Shot on a Nikon D700 with 17-35mm Nikkor Lens, ND 8 soft Grad, tripod. Raw files with Active D-Lighting on High. / The Light Catcher

Shot at my favorite set of rocks on the beach in the North bay at Kaikoura, New Zealand, the surge from the left is the towns floodway meeting the sea sending the wave sideways. love the motion of this image, this format is becoming a signature shot for me, the 17mm lens is getting right down to my feet, the lens was very expensive, (NZ$3K) its worth every penny! Shot on a Nikon D700 with 17-35mm Nikkor Lens, ND 8 soft Grad, tripod with weighted bags.
Jackson Bay, West Coast, South Island, New Zealand. / I spent four days out on the coast, waiting for a sunset. It rained the whole time, untill the last day and there was a small gap in the clouds. / Nikon D200 /
