  • St Nicholas Church / . / Location – Liverpool / . / Date – 11.12.07 / . / Time – 1:17 (approx) / . / Seagull Name – Unknown / . / . / . / A Brief History / . / St Nicholas is the Patron Saint of sailors and is regarded as the guardian of seamen proceeding on their voyages. Consequently the Parish Church of Liverpool is often known as the Sailors Church. / . / St Nicholas has been rebuilt several times since its foundation in medieval times. In the corner of the churchyard stood a coffee house in which shackles were fixed for the slave trader auctions during the eighteenth century. / . / The Garden / . / Until 1767 when a dock was built where the Liver Buildings now stand, at high tide, the River Mersey reached the wall which encloses the garden. / . / 1849 saw the last burials. The Churchyard became a public garden in memory of James Harrison whose shipping company still has its offices facing the garden. / . / On 17 May 1892 a Deed of Faculty was granted for the laying out of the graveyard as an ‘Ornamental Ground’ by forming walks and making beds of shrubs or plants surrounded with turf. It was clearly indicated that the alterations should in no way interfere with the primary use of the Church as a place of worship.

  • FAITHFUL IS HE WHO HAS PROMISED [poem by Annie Johnson Flint] / Are you passing through a testing. Is your pillow wet with tears? Do you wonder what the reason, Why it seems God never hears? Why it is you have no answer To your oft, repeated plea, Why the heaven still is leaden As you wait on bended knee? Do you wonder as you suffer, Whether God does understand, And if so, why He ignores you, Fails to hold you in His Hand? / Do black doubts creep in, assail you, Fears without—and fears within, Till your brave heart almost falters And gives way to deadly sin? All God’s testings have a purpose, Someday you will see the light. All He asks is that you trust Him, Walk by faith and not by sight. / Do not fear when doubts beset you, Just remember – He is near; He will never, never leave you, He will always, always hear. Faithful is He who has promised, He will never let you fall, Daily will the strength be given Strength for each and strength for all. / He will gladly share pain with you, He will gladly give you peace. Till your tired and weary body Finds its blessed, glad release. When the darkened veil is lifted, Then, dear heart, you’ll understand Why it is you had to suffer, Why you could not feel His hand Giving strength when it was needed, Giving power and peace within. Giving joy thru tears and trial, Giving victory over sin. So till then just keep on trusting, Thru the sunshine and the rain. [Heb. 10:23 Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;)]

  • A montage of the various neon signs of Times Square (and its surroundings). Featured in the Outside the Box group October 2009. Original photos taken with a Nikon D100, 24-120mm zoom. Then layered in PS Elements, blended and given a small twist of motion blur. I tried to capture my feelings of being overwhelmed by the environment.

  • Mankind has a history of moving back and forth from great advancements to moving back to the stone age. It is thought this is due to mans aggression and the nature of our wanting to conquer everything in our domain. I think it is due to man looking to advance what is around him instead of focusing what is important the advanced of our spirits. Disregarding this shell of temporal existence as stage of learning, advancing through the stages of ethereal development towards ascendancy.

  • Everything within our known universe is composed of energy and that energy manifests itself in a plethora of forms of outstanding beauty. Do we tend to speed through our existence missing the beauty that surrounds us. Many faiths describe the intense beauty found within deep meditation which is said to touch the essence of that universal power which surprisingly enough is found within. I believe they have glimpsed a view of the energy found upon the cosmic seat of consciousness at the inner core of creation. Who knows if we slow down for just a moment and stop and look, we might find a view which will take our breath away.
