The wharf at Merimbula, New South Wales, Australia.
A calm morning on an eb tide at Milford sound…though this ambience was to change no less than 10minutes after this photograph was composed when the frequent westerly winds came in and the water chopped up losing all reflections.. / / This is an uncropped and unstitched photograph taken on Fuji Velvia slide film then digitally converted to B&W. / . / The Sydney Opera House is an expressionist modern design, with a series of large precast concrete ‘shells’, each taken from a hemisphere of the same radius, forming the roofs of the structure. The Opera House covers 1.8 hectares (4.5 acres) of land. It is 183 metres (605 feet) long and about 120 metres (388 feet) wide at its widest point. It is supported on 580 concrete piers sunk up to 25 metres below sea level. Its power supply is equivalent for a town of 25,000 people. The roofs of the House are covered with 1.056 million glossy white and matte cream Swedish-made tiles.

The precise moment just before you snatch the camera up, a near waist deep wash, you can’t get the same effect with a long lens, you need to be close and wide. Lets just put this into perspective, I don’t just walk out into the sea, you need to watch what the wave pattern is doing, it’s tending to peak around the seventh wave, the seventh one will blast you, but 6 and 8 will have the force and momentum for you to get the shot and get out. Shot at Wainuiomata on a shoot with Henk Stolk a treip we will both remember for a long time, great to share the experience.

Check this out!, this is the remains of a Store house built buy Robert Fyffe The fireplace and concrete step are all that remain of the Bonded Warehouse. The old wharf to the east of the chimney was the main port. Goods would only be released from the Bonded Warehouse when custom duty had been paid. The Bonded Warehouse was built around 1869 http://www.virtual-kaikoura.com/fyffehouse/fyffehousearea.htm This was fantastic light, firstly, I regret not changing lenses, the wide angle made the moon seem too far away, secondly, I’ve never seen the moon rise over the ocean before and best of all, the dying sun behind me was illuminating the fire place, very strange look. Shot on a Nikon D700 with 17-35mm lens.
