Hi to anyone and everyone that may read this. I am happy to be here and hope that my shots bring a smile to a face or two. Here is a little information on who I am. Although I am Australian as a child I grew up in various countries in South East Asia. I came back to Australia to finish high school, which is where I became interested in photography. Photography then took a back seat to trying to find my way through the maze of life. That maze took me to Japan where I lived for 8 years and it was in Japan where I picked up the camera again. I have now been back in Australia for about 2 and a half years. I must say both my parents became seriously ill at the end of last year and sadly my mother died 2 months ago. Because of this I haven’t been really put camera in hand for the last 6 months or so. However my trusty D100 has found it way back in my hands and hopefully redbubble my encourage me to be a little more motivated. Well that really sums it all up for me at the moment. Thanks for you interest, comments and (hopefully) purchases of some of my work .

It’s less than a week since I found this wonderful site, and I’m addicted already. The range and quality of work shown here is nothing short of amazing. It’s nice to have an outlet for some of the images I’ve been creating over the years. Some of them have found their way, via a photographic enlarger, on to 16×20 gelatine prints, while others have existed only in digital form on the hard drive (backed up in at least one other location, of course). I have lately been wrestling with the question of validity of digital works as art; the issue of easy reproducibility, not to mention the relative ease of creation, troubled me. How can I create something on a computer – it might take me only a few minutes – sit it alongside a painting or sculpture that has taken many, many hours of painstaking effort to complete, and compare them as equals? I’m coming to realise that it’s a non-question, arising partly out of my own inability to see myself as an artist, and my perception of what constitutes serious art. Arguably, redbubble appeared on my radar at the right time, just as I have been resolving that question, thus enabling me to upload my work with aplomb, and create new work without any mental baggage. Some of what I’m uploading is the result of playing around with conventional images in Paint Shop Pro (it’s what I ‘grew up’ with, and is significantly more economical than Photoshop) – I’m calling it ‘photomangling’ – and as such, is not work that has been created with a specific end product or effect in mind. In my photographic career, I was always urged to visualize the finished image before putting eye to camera – something I used to find difficult at times. Now, such visualization is virtually impossible; the results are very much serendipitous, and I will discard many more than I finally save. At times, the process is something like looking in a dictionary: I go in one general direction, then find 2 or more interesting possibilities to distract me, and sometimes end up much later going back to the original target (if I don’t forget it completely!). I look forward too see how redbubble develops, and where it leads me. Meanwhile, it’s a lot of satisfying fun.

So I started posting up artwork today and… so far this is pretty fun! This is bad though… I want to buy so many things here, including my own stuff! Eeeeek! I’m still learning my way around but am definitely amused by the ability to comment on each others’ work. I think that’s just fantastic and entertaining. I suppose I shall figure out some more characters and designs to post tomorrow… that is… if I even take a break and do not continue to keep posting throughout the night!!!

Christmas is dangerously close and before we know it, 2009 will be knocking at the door. Before you get distracted by devouring your own weight in christmas pudding/ham/seafood/chocolate or burying yourself under wrapping paper, we want to hear how 2008 has been for you. If you would like to post your own ‘year in review’, please copy the questions below into a journal and start crafting your responses. State your name and your business Rhana Griffin… also known around the traps as Bella, Bellababe, Bellaboobalicious, Ms Muffin, Snow Queen and Snow Baby. I’m sure I’ve missed a few so please feel free to add to the list :) Tell us what you consider to be your RedBubble highlight for the year Meeting the RB crew and being inducted into their world of madness, mayhem and mischief. My encounter with Guard Chicken (among others) is an experience that I will be telling my grandchildren about… Christmas tune that you would ban for life and why We Wish You A Merry Christmas When you are sitting in the front row at the school Christmas concert and a bunch a little people start singing this song enthusiastically (as they always do) it’s a total germ fest. picture little ones missing front teeth and with snotty noses singing “We wiSHHHHH you a merry ChriSSSSSSSTMaaSSS” Please petition The Centre for Communicable Diseases to make the wearing of full Hazmat suits compulsory during the singing of this song. Funniest comment you’ve seen on a work/journal/forum thread This whole journal had me reeling. If it is possible to die from laughter then Stuart, Boz, and Jeff are sure to be the death of me. Over the last year or so I have snorted that much coffee outta my nose because of these three… they are the Larry, Curly and Moe of my RB world. Which RedBubble work are you secretly hoping to find under your tree I’m going to be greedy and list a few. Shush now! My mummy always tells me I am worth spoiling ;) Paul Tupman’s Quiet Serenity soothes my soul. Rose Moxon’s Sakura—takes me away to far away places. Paul Vanzella’s 6.40am to Rome is a long time fave that messes with my perspective, I never tire of looking at it. JackyP’s Daisy bug is just so delicate and beautiful I think I need to stop now or I will be here until New Year!!! Most inspiring thing/person you’ve spotted on the bubble this year There is a few I have come across… you can find a whole bunch of them here And even more here I have these guys to thank for my Redbubble t-shirt addiction!! Imagine you are the queen of England. What’s your Christmas message to the RedBubble masses? Now why on earth would I want to pretend I am the crusty old Queen of England when I am… dun dun DUUUNNNHHH!!!! THE MUFFIN QUEEN! Do not question my golden fluffy goodness! And my christmas message is go forth and multiply. Multiply your joy / Multiply your love / Multiply your time for your family / Multiply your drinks / Multiply your hangover so you know you had a good time / Multiply your food, especially cake and chocolate / Multiply your mistletoe so you can multiply your christmas kisses :) Merry Christmas to one and all, and to all a good night.

I thought I should include an entry of what I intend to do with my journal. I will not be posting my poetry or written art in here. This will just be another outlet for me regarding my photos or art and all subjects that come to mind regarding that. I invite all browsers & artists alike to read them & comment. Since I am new to this site & don’t have too much time daily to spend here, I haven’t done much browsing. I am hoping to get to know other artists on redbubble, as there is so much beautiful and thoughtful work here. Thank you to all who view my art, comment, favorite, and support me & my art. Brightest Blessings, Lucertola

This site was recommended to me by a fellow JPG’er who suggested I look into rebubble as JPG seems to be coming to a close. So I joined early today, and after a few hours stumbling around I think I finally got the gist of it all. This is a very cool site with great features. There is some pretty amazing photographers here on redbubble, which makes it a little intimidating at first. Maybe that will help spur me on to improve my photography and find out few new tricks. I hope my “work” is up to snuff and please I am open to any suggestions you may have. Thanks J. Beamish

Today I discovered the new Bubblesite feature! This is very cool and useful feature. I now own my own Bubblesite http://markogt.redbubble.com/ and I am very happy. You can divide photos into different photo sets with ease. This feature works very well and can save many time for you. I can now have my own personal gallery from images that are already up in Redbubble. I do not have to to this manually in some other website. Thank you Redbubble for this great feature! I recommend to give this feature a try for every redbubbler online ! Marko

There are so many redbubble homepages. But do you remeber the one from a week ago? / I just want to collect them all. So I started a blog with all of the homepages from now on. Or i am going to try to put all of the homepages (with links to the works) on there. Here is the link. I decided i make one post on monday and updat it for a week with all of the new homepages. Then i make the next post. That way you have Oneweek reviews that are up to date. I will try to collect all of the homepages and to put all of the homepages on it. Don’t shoot me if one is missing (i have a life after redbubble too) / Have fun with it!! (and you can put a comment on there as well, just so I keep the spirit up :-p ) the site is already up to date for this week. (so far as possible) / I also put tags in the messages, they are the people who choose the theme. on the right you can click on the usernames and you get all of the pages they have chosen. That will be interesting after three months or so. Greets mimmam http://redbubblehomepages.blogspot.com/ And to close this journal, here are some other 8selections / ` / Sisters. / and i choose this theme because my sister just joined redbubble. There is also 1 picture in here from her. / / / I didn’t make this with a shot on the homepage. So that is why some of the works are already popular. It is just that i need to tell a story without words. and it is easier whit other peoples work. / / / keys and locks / / / / some triangles / / / /

Tuesday, November 03, 2009 / Carolyn Devonshire’s imminent book release – ‘Colonizing Atlantis, the New Earth’ – Nov. 28th. / Current mood: excited / Category: Writing and Poetry / Published, author, writer, poet friend of mine Carolyn Devonshire has an imminent official new book release date set for November 28th, so it won’t get to amazon.com nor Barnes&Noble before then. So it is an honor to be able to bring to you the official synopsis of the novel which I think you will agree sounds like it is set to draw in the masses, a great idea for that don’t know what to buy timely Christmas gift too, so here goes – enjoy! / : / / Colonizing Atlantis, the New Earth / by Carolyn Devonshire / / The intriguing mystery of Atlantis, an eighth continent described by Plato, in Earth’s ancient past has long been the focus of debate among historians. Much evidence to support this premise has surfaced in recent times, leading to speculation concerning the cause of a scientifically-advanced culture’s demise. Colonizing Atlantis, the New Earth explores one possible scenario for the development and subsequent extinction of an Atlantean society. Its storyline is interwoven with scenes from the present and past as two young Americans discover proof of a once great, mid-Atlantic continent. / / It is 65,000 years ago as the saga opens and the planet Atlan is in chaos. Due to an ill-conceived crystal power source, Atlan’s ecological balance has been destroyed and the life of its sun drained. As the sun approaches nova, 50 members of a scientist’s family board a space vessel bound for the only other planet deemed capable of supporting their life form—Earth. Upon reaching their destination, the aliens establish a nation called Atlantis and interbreed with primitive humans who already inhabit Earth, a pristine planet of environmental integrity. / / After many years pass, Atlantean leaders revive the crystal power generator, failing to consider its impact on their ancestors. There is dissention among some Atlanteans who fear the long-term results and relocate to another area of the continent, establishing the nation of Azure. Atlanteans grow militant as their environment is slowly destroyed and war is declared when Atlantean King Goldus’s daughter runs away to wed the Azurite leader Theus. After Azure is razed by the Atlantis army, Theus and Mara lead a band of rebels who succeed in cleverly outsmarting Goldus’s militia and securing control of Atlantis. To repay the rebels, Theus fulfills a promise to destroy the crystal. In doing so, however, the forces of nature are unleashed with earthquakes and tidal waves causing most of the continent to collapse beneath the sea. / / In present day, Pamela Lynch and Scott Wyndham survive an airline crash in Atlantic waters just west of the Azores. When the pair wash up onto the shore of a remote island, Pamela’s gift of psychometry helps Scott, a history teacher, to piece together details of the area’s past through identification of artifacts, ruins and a submersible ship that pre-dates modern man. / / The novel’s ending is surprising and makes a profound statement about the importance of learning from past mistakes in a struggle to preserve life. The action-filled and sometimes humorous tale is one of adventure, science fiction (or fact?) and romance with perspectives on religion, ecology and human nature.

I checked out the post about the new ‘Buy Gifts’ tag this morning, and I read the responses that seem to be a little upset about how we artists are picked for this area of promotion here @ RedBubble. I put in my name ‘cheyannesexton’ (all one word) because thats the way I’ve tagged so many things on all my other sites and my google count is higher than when I use my name split in two. Probably because I started it that way and it works to some degree, but I did learn a valuable lesson today. Use both: e.g. cheyannnesexton and I’ll now use e.g. cheyanne sexton, as well. I used it here on RedBubble and when my name is combined it show every single piece that was available with that tag, but when I tried ’ cheyanne sexton, split, nothing. Not one piece of my work showed. So I added the additional spelling be splitting my name and a few hours later (the system takes time to recognize the change) the one photo I had changed showed up. So now it’s off to make sure all my tags show both spellings of my name. / And I thought others might want to do the same. / Peace n Abundance, / newmexicomtngirl / CheyAnne / aka. cheyannesexton / aka: cheyanne sexton p.s. I wonder if capatializing would change anything? /

2009 has come and gone, and although it has not been a bad year, it’s been rather uninspired when it comes to creativity or motivation in my part. The highlight of my year was my trip to Japan with my hubby, other than that the year is mostly a blur.  As we move into the new year and a new century I want to challenge myself to pursue my photography and creative side. I may regret this later but as of the new year I will endeavour to take at least one photograph a day (for some this may be the norm, but it is a big step for me). Whether it’s with my iPhone, my snapshot camera, my Canon EOS DSLR, or any other means possible.  To show that I’m keeping my word,  I will put in a redbubble journal, or on my redbubble art page. Also my blog. If I don’t have access to the Internet, or miss a day for any reason, I will put up extra photos for the days missed. It’s been a pleasure being a part of redbubble, for the last year (I surf it nearly everyday, and love seeing all the talent here) and I look forward to a creative and talented new year, of which I can hopefully be a part of. Happy New Year everyone! Smel
