Near Lake Mead, Nevada
Pyramid Lake at sunset. I think pictures like this should be described upon the viewer’s perception. This photo displayed hope to me along with just being out there that day. /
It was not long before dawn and there was an eerie silence around the lake. The lighting was changing by the minute and every photo had different qualities. I ended up choosing this one over the others to process because I really liked the reflection I got in it.

Took this from the truck window, using my Canon Rebel XLT. I had a polarized lens cap on the lens, used my white balance on auto, the lens was a 18-55mm lens. It was taken on interstate 80 in Nevada. I took this out my passenger window.

This was taken moments before the sun cast its first warm rays against the mountains. Watching a sunrise in the Sierra Nevada mountains is hard to beat. It isn’t called the Range of Light for nothing. The quiet peacefulness before dawn slowly escalates as it gets lighter and the animals come alive. This is an HDR created using Photomatix Pro.
A little oasis at the base of the Egan Mountains; this little pond is fed from a geothermal hotspring, and stays warm all year, even as the landscape all around is frozen and dry. Self Portrait I seldom do shadow portraits anymore; there is a sadness to them, for the void next to me where used to be a four-legged companion. Not much market for them, anyhow. But on this day last July, I couldn’t resist. Against the wondrous sky and miles and miles of solitude, what a small shadow I make on the world. It is good to remember these things. I return to this exact spot a lot. I have to say it is one of my favorite places to take photographs. This canyon is one of nature’s great cathedrals. It’s hard to explain the feeling that comes over you when you are standing there staring out across the water…Especially during this time of year, when there is nobody else out there. You can have the whole place to yourself, or share it with someone special.
Clouds hung low along the mountainside; their promise of evening rain was kept. Exchequer Mountain – Eastern Nevada / (2009.MAY.01) RedBubble Album:”“Peak Experiences””:
It’s a wonderful time when summer approaches to Eastern Nevada. There are still snow high in the mountains, however, it melts rapidly in the day and freezes at night. This capture has been taken on July 12, 2007. The snow was in perfect condition to pegging foot in. Then I used the same footmark on my way back and took this shot. It was not dangerous. It’s just an illusion of that. A few steps were like that only. You would laugh if you see the whole picture. But the view was really beautiful. I liked this composition too. Nevada… Arvy was here, but Kilroy didn’t! Nevada is a fairyland that sounds like a glorious music to my ear.
This was a nice place under natural roof. The real rest area that was used by mountain goats. It also was some sort of art gallery with charming icicles, abstract rock art, and beautiful vistas that regailed the spirit with overpowering beauty. The day was absolutely clear and blue sky was nothing but absorptive power. It required effort to resist that draught. The body resisted, but the spirit has fluttered away…
A lone pine tree grows from the rocks in the high sierra Nevadas.
This natural sculpture has been taken at Blue Mass Scenic Area, Nevada. The Great Creator is extremely artistic. Enjoy! :)
These clouds over the Carson valley in Nevada looked almost like flying saucers flying in oer the mountains.
We all know how usually the night approaches. But did you ever see how it comes vestured in its glory? By the Creator’s will, fiery horse pulls it behind galloping valleys westward and jumping over mountain ranges on his way. Good night Nevada, good night! Those who don’t believe in miracles will never see them…
