  • On this October morning in 2007 the morning light entered the forest near Lage Vuursche in the Netherlands in a spectacular way. Near Lage Vuursche, 22nd October 2007, 9.40 am / Nikon D80, Nikkor 18-200 mm at 40mm / F 7.1, 1/80, ISO 1000

  • It was a wonderful summer-morning on that 1st August 2007. I had managed to get up in time before sunrise and cycle the 5 miles to the grounds of the country-house of Groeneveld near Baarn/The Netherlands. A marvellous place for beautiful shots. Especially at that early morning hour when the sun hits the low mist, as it did here at 6.30 am. Half an hour later it is all gone and it is just a normal summer morning. So you have to be right on time! Groeneveld, 1st August 2007, 6,29 am / Nikon D80, Nikkor 18-200 mm at 95 mm / F 25, 1/80, ISO 200

  • Indeed, where is the unicorn? In the misty atmosphere in the forest near Lage Vuursche on this December morning all sorts of spooky beasts might come into the picture from behind some dark tree, or at least it would seem so. Many thanks fo Justin for his very imaginative suggestion. Near Lage Vuursche, 13th December 2007, 10.04 am / Nikon D80, Nikkor 18-200 mm at 82 mm / F 7.1, 1/80, ISO 200

  • It was in mid-April, the second day after I had bought the new Nikon D80 when the weather here provided a perfect sunrise morning with some mist. Nothing more quickly done in the morning than rushing with my bike towards the paradisical grounds of the country-house of Groeneveld near Baarn where I so often shoot. And I can tell you: it was worth it! Groeneveld, 12th April 2007, 7.30 am / Nikon D 80 with Nikkor 18-200 mm at 52 mm / F 9, 1/160, ISO 200

  • The real top-shot of the lightthinker-gallery of mine on deviantArt is “lightthought 287”. It was again taken in the forest near Lage Vuursche/The Netherlands. Actually in my pre-Nikon days. My old Panasonic FZ10 had opened the new digital world for me, and this shot has been one of the most beautiful results. No lightbeams, just a magnificent tree on a misty day in September 2006.. As there is no “lightthought” without a quote, here the quotation which I had chosen for this shot: “Two roads diverged in a wood, and I … / I took the one less traveled by, / And that has made all the difference.” / (Robert Frost) Lage Vuursche, 27th September 2006, 10.05 am / Panasonic FZ 10 at 6 mm / F 2.8, 1/40, ISO 200

  • I just must present you with one more of my mist shots of the other day. You were so positive about the first one – many thanks for all wonderful reactions! Near Hilversum, 13th February 2008, 9.33 am / Nikon D 80, Nikkor 18-200 mm at 36 mm / F 4.5, 1/15, ISO 200 Featured in “Your Magic Place”

  • This shot is from June 2005. I still try to get an even better one of a mare and a foal, but up to now I find it unequalled. So I share it with you here on Redbubble now too, after it has been on deviantArt for years, though differently cropped. Near Hilversum, 5th June 2005, 5.17 pm / Panasonic FZ10, 6-72 mm at 28 mm / F 2,8, 1/125, ISO 50

  • Do we dare to enter the park of the country-house Gooilust at ´s-Graveland near Hilversum/The Netherlands at this early-morning hour when the mist hovers over the country and the morning ghosts are still around? ´s-Graveland, 7th June, 5.26 am / Nikon D80, Nikkor 18-200 mm at 26 mm / F 5,6, 1/30, ISO 800

  • It was another beautiful summer morning with some haze a few days ago which made me go out on my bike early. I am glad I did push myself up and out.! The forests here near Hilversum are such a good cycling area! Near Laage Vuursche, 24 July 2008, 6.45 am / Nikon D80, Nikkor 18-200 mm at 150 mm / F 8, 1/25, ISO 200 Featured in “Your Magic Place”.

  • The morning mist has been a great enchanter this week. This time I searched for its marvellous transformations on the Horneboeg Heath here at Hilversum and found this little scene. Actually this is another hit-shot today at deviantArt: nearly 1100 viewers in 17 hours. So you should not miss it either, I think. Near Hilversum, 9th October 2008, 9.02 am / Nikon D80, Nikkor 18-200 mm at 112 mm / F 29, 1/40, ISO 400

  • I am glad I did not stay at home on this magnificent autumnal morning. It was ever so beautiful out in our forests here. Even if you know all the lanes by now, the change of season and light means a change each time again. And this lane is a very special one. Near Laage Vuursche, 2nd November 2008, 9.41 am / Nikon D80, Nikkor 18-200 mm at 135 mm / F 14, 1/20, ISO 800 Sold as laminated print. Please compare my “Remembering my first November lane” showing the same lane from the opposite side and submitted on 7th December as a gesture of gratefulness:

  • The challenge in Stream Crossings on “Streams in winter” inspires me to dig out a shot from the best hoarfrost day that I ever experienced in my photographic life (I remember some from my youth, but that was long ago and very long before the age of digital photography). / This shot was taken in the most beautiful park of the country-house of Groeneveld near Baarn which you know already from quite a few shots. Groeneveld, 22nd December 2007, 10.00 am / Nikon D80, Nikkor 18-200 mm at 200 mm / F 10, 1/60, ISO 200 Here two more shots from that great morning in Groeneveld park: And here a later shot of this bridge from November 2008:

  • It was a grand forest morning yesterday. First the blue light of an early December morning, and then the morning sun kissing the forest awake again. Here she made the last leaves of this old beech-tree light up like candle lights. Near Hilversum, 2nd December 2008, 9.39 am / Nikon D80, Nikkor 18-200 mm at 56 mm / F 18, 1/50, ISO 400

  • Today I am so happy as to be able to tell you that I have sold a print of “My first November lane”. Many thanks to the unknown buyer. To share my joy with you, I add another shot of this lane, taken just six minutes later from the opposite side, again showing the colourful autumnal beech-tree leaves at their best. Near Laage Vuursche, 2nd November 2008, 9.47 am / Nikon D80, Nikkor 18-200 mm at 95 mm / F 13, 1/30, ISO 800 Here the sale shot:

  • On a grey and wet mid-December morning like this one my soul longs for the morning light, shining through the trees as it did here in a beech-tree forest near Hilversum last week. Near Hilversum, 2n December 2008, 9.43 am / Nikon D80, Nikkor 18-200 mm at 90 mm / F 13, 1/50, ISO 400

  • Taken on an early morning in August 2007, this picture is one of the most popular ones of my jchanders-gallery on deviantArt. So it is high time to share it with you here, too. In the weeks to come I shall do so with those top-shots of my three galleries over there which you do not know yet. After all they are certainly also worth your attention. Again this shot was taken on the grounds of the country-house Groeneveld near Baarn, the wonderful scene of so many of my pictures. Groeneveld, 1st August 2007, 6.24 am / Nikon D80, Nikkor 18-200 mm at 50 / F 11, 1/60, ISO 200 Here a later sunrise shot of the same scene, taken earlier in the year though in April 2009. So the sun rises further to the right (=the south):

  • Up till now I had only placed this shot on my esperimenti-gallery on deviantArt. This morning I discovered to my great joy that yesterday it was rewarded with a so-called Daily Deviation. The consequence was that 7500 viewers came along in about 24 hours and that there more than 1500 faves in the same time. / So there is certainly enough reason to share this shot also with all my Redbubble friends here! I hope they will like it too. / Once again it was taken on the grounds of the country-house Groeneveld near Baarn here in The Netherlands. Groeneveld, 20th September 2008, 9.08 am / Nikon D80, Nikkor 18-200 mm at 200 mm / F 14, 1/40, ISO 400

  • Yesterday morning nearly all my photographic dreams of the past weeks came true again! It was a brisk misty morning, with the sun breaking through later. I took the bike and went to one of my favourate shooting grounds, the forests near Lage Vuursche, some 6 miles away. And everything happened, riders came along on a misty lane and path, mountainbikers and walkers enlivened the scene, but there were also quiet moments when the lanes and forest just belonged to me. So I came home with a big load of shots after more than three hours – and the heart did not protest once! This really gives a lot of hope for the time to come! Of course there are many shots to share now, but I shall spread the best in my usual way, never more than one per day. After all this gallery is growing fast enough, with more than 500 pictures already. And nothing better to start with than a nice sunbeam shot, with the last November leaves on the beech-trees and a lovely carpet of fallen leaves on the ground. Near Lage Vuursche, 8th November 2009, 10.48 am / Nikon D80, Nikkor 18-200 mm at 75 mm / F 9, 1/60, ISO 400

  • On our North Sea Beach there are several rows of piles to serve as a wave breaker, like here near my village of Renesse (Netherlands). / These rows of piles are a popular subject for a photo, also for me…..
