Photograph “to see a video of Israel Kamakawiwo’Ole” CLICK This is a photograph I took of my youngest daughter. When my daughters were younger, we used to tell Faery stories at bed time and take turns adding to the story. The stories were very long and often times they would be very revealing, these were happy memories for us so…….. I wanted to capture what one of those characters might have looked like, she was a Tree Faery and her hair was a birds nest, egg included.

I was watching a bald eagle nest in Ladner, BC, Canada, which is just south of Vancouver. The adults were coming and going at intervals. This image shows the female returning to the nest, and just about to land on a branch. The nest is to the right of the picture. The image was captured using a Nikon D2Xs camera with a 600mm lens and 1.4 teleconverter mounted on a tripod.

It is finally spring time after a long, cold, hard Southern California winter. And the birds and the bees tell us so. Well, I don’t have evidence of the bees, but I do of the birds. And if you don’t think this is a macro then you have not seen a Hummingbird nest. Featured in Dimensions and in Nirvana. In this fourth shot of my bald eagles’ nest series, the mother bald eagle has just joined her two young at the end of the day. The whole family sleeps together in two large coniferous trees. In the two weeks I have been shooting and observing at the nest, “dad” always arrives last at the end of the day. Soon the young fledged eagles will be on their own, completely abandoned by their parents. In this shot, she is certainly giving me the eye, as she hides herself within the protective bows of fir tree next to the nesting tree. Captured on the Fraser River in Delta, British Columbia, using a Nikon D300 and Nikkor f4 600 mm lens, on a Gitzo tripod, ISO 640, -0.33 EV, f4, 1/100s.

A female eastern bluebird has a beak full of nesting material, in preparation to set up housekeeping in a nearby birdhouse. The male keeps a watchful eye out for any rival birds wanting to compete for the nesting site
