Someone is always watching you these days. Do you feel safer for it? I must say that i dont actually have a problem with surveillance cameras … especially not in this day and age. Although those stupid spots on the ground that say security cameras work in this area are pretty dumb. Anyway, This image was just in a dream the other day.
I couldn’t help myself. I was waiting outside the SOHO, NYC post-office. I saw this girl and had to act fast…I love capturing one in ‘deep thought’. I’m sure she was thinking whether or not she should stay at her current job…no? LOL
IF you can keep your head / When all about you are losing theirs / And blaming it on you. / IF you can trust yourself / When all men doubt you / But make allowance for their doubting too. / IF you can dream and not make dreams your master. / IF you can think and not make thoughts your aim. / IF you can meet with triumph and disaster. / And treat those two impostors just the same. / IF you can bear to hear the truth you’ve spoken / Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools / Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken / And stoop and build’em up with worn out tools. / IF you can make one heap of all your winnings / And risk it on one turn of pitch and toss / And lose, and start again at your beginnings / And never breathe a word about your loss. / IF you can force your heart, and nerve, and sinew / To serve your turn long after they are gone / And so “hold on” when there is nothing on you / Except the will which says to them “hold on!” / IF you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue / Or walk with kings, nor lose the common touch. / IF neither foe nor loving friend can hurt you. / IF all men count with you … but none too much. / IF you can fill the unforgiving minute / With sixty seconds worth of distant run. / Yours is the earth, and everything that’s in it. / And which is more … You’ll be a Man, My Son. / by Rudyard Kippling Inks, enamel, pigment and metallic leaf – Image best viewed in large format
Squirrels are fun to watch but way too voracious in their eating habits. After chomping down an asparagus fern as his salad, one saucy fellow then scrambled up the pole to the bird feeder where he enjoyed sunflower seeds as his entree. Still not through, he pruned my yellow hibiscus for dessert. When these nervy diners are really hungry, they have even gnawed at my front door. Guess they need the roughage!
Digital abstract art created using Cinema4D and Photoshop.
I took this photo of two herons in a cypress tree, one bullying the other into submission. When I found this quotation by Benjamin Disraeli, I thought it was a marriage made in heaven, the picture and the words, that is. So here it is. Thought it could suit many purposes as there are lots of bullies and bullied ones in this world.
A very small fern leaf.
It’s been a long time since my heart thumped with nervousness. But uploading this make me feel so vulnerable. It’s been a long time since I’ve drawn anything, and I’ve never been particularly skilled at it. Rather, it’s something I enjoy and like to do in private, preferable under the bed covers with a torch. Last year I did some life drawing classes and just the idea of people being able to see over my shoulder was enough for me to stop. This is a short sketch done in about 10 minutes. I was trying to avoid looking at the paper and just focus my eyes on the subject. When I draw, I don’t like to take my pen off the page, feeling like if I do, I might forget my train of thought and stuff it all up. So anyway, I promised myself that this year I’d start showing people the stuff I am afraid of. To say anything less than “I’m shitting myself” wouldn’t do it justice.
