  • Skipping Girl is a neon sign in Melbourne that is a bit of an icon. The company may have moved on but the sign was restored but it doesn’t actually work anymore. I thought I would take a picture of it with my new little P & S Nikon and then add the neon back. This is part of a series of different takes on Skipping Girl which is a bit pop artish and just fun to make.

  • A collage of Skipping Girl taken from a photo I took of a non working neon sign. It’s a great melbourne icon located in Victoria Street and as it doesn’t work I decided to re-inject the colour back into it. This is part of a series of works based around this very cool little sign.

  • Every major city I’ve been in has its own prominent neon Coke sign and Buenos Aires is no exception. The coke sign in Sydney is the gateway to Kings Cross and all that goes on there and the coke sign in the city of Buenos Aires seems to be located in a fairly equivalent part of town. Shot with a tiny Russin lomo camera with Ilford HP5 b/w film on my recent visit to this amazing and vital city in Argentina.

  • Old signs, works of art that beacons the passerby with colors and lights, tastes and smells, fond memories of times past, and warm pleasant moments remembered! They are disappearing from the landscape, ingrained deep in our memories, almost gone but not forgotten.

  • [Double Exposure Project #1 – Oregon and San Diego Exposed] This is one of the images produced through double exposing a roll of film with my amazingly talented, generous, and dear friend Matt Adamik. This was our first attempt at working with this process and I am in love with every image. Matt lives in Oregon and I live in San Diego. He shot the roll first, mailed it to me, and I shot over top his photos. Neither of us knew what the other was shooting. The results are astounding and breathtaking. And fun! We will be collaborating on many more double exposure projects in the very near future. A wonderful way to bring Oregon and San Diego together, as well as the styles and friendships of two photographers. I am absolutely in love with this type of photography! I highly recommend it for everyone. Thank you Matt for everything! Goggles Down! /

  • It’s not a neon sign! They’re real flowers. These orange crysanthemums were part of a display for sale at the florist in the main concourse of Flinders Street Station. These blooms, with roses and gerberas, were in very deep shadow on a winter afternoon about five weeks ago, in late June. I had just lined up a shot with the appropriate settings when without any warning the sun came out from behind a cloud. Simultaneously, a person standing between the sun and the flowers moved away. Immediately, the flowers were bathed in bright light and I decided to fire off a really tight frame anyway, just to see what the result would be. Sometimes capricious light can really give you interesting results when you least expect them. I do not crop, enhance or post-edit my work in any way. Shot with a Pentax K100D, using a Sigma 70-300mm lens. F8, 1/250 sec, ISO 200, focal length 300mm. 115-8404
