Kerry Hodge / Country Singer & Songwriter (Leeton, NSW) Kerry is a true blue Aussie bushman who began singing and writing country music at a young age, winning his first talent quest at twelve years old. In 1977 Kerry wrote and recorded a song about the great pacer Paleface Adios, and performed it live on pay television in 2002. Between 1999 and 2001, he competed in the worlds richest singing competition at the Marrickville RSL Club, making the semi finals each year. Out of 2000 entrants he was placed into the final 12 each time. Kerry has performed with some of the best country singers in Australia, including Gordon (The Pub with No Beer) Parsons, Lee Kernaghan, The Wolverines and many more. Kerry has performed and won awards at The Tamworth Country & Western Music Festival, The Parke’s Jamboree and received a special award from Nashville Tennisee for his compositions. ‘The Singing Hodge Family’ won best group in Tamworth with the song ‘Amazing Grace’. Kerry held a residency at the Mandurama Hotel (NSW) for 2 months in 2003, where the publician recognised his talents and financed Kerry to purchase equipment in order that he could continue to perform live and record CD’s. Kerry can be regularly found busking around Sydney, performing his umbrella balancing act while playing his guitar. A street performer through and through, Kerry is always ready with an Aussie quip and joke.

Reloading this one due to absolutely no comments I don’t think its a horrible image so i’m not sure why no comments.. If its no good someone tell me lol The Canadian Pacific Railway has for the last ten years put on the Holiday Train. The train travels from coast to coast starting on the eastern coast and progressing to the western coast! The purpose of the trip is to collect non perishable items for the food banks! The show lasts for approximately 30 mins in each town, including a singing santa, and several rock and country stars. This is a shot of the train engine. I climbed up the hill with snow well past the tops of my hiking boots, proceeded to set up my tripod and camera right on the tracks. The engineer was aware of what i was doing. Normally you are not permitted on the tracks while the train is running but he permitted me to take some shots. It was -10 or so and very crisp out. I had to alternate between wearing gloves to keep my hands some what warm and taking them off to manipulate the camera.

When I saw this prayer, written by an unknown author, at the Carmelite monastery where I do volunteer work, I knew I had to incorporate it into an image and offer its consoling words to those who are suffering from Alzheimer’s as well as to family, friends, and medical personnel who care for those afflicted with this disease. I chose an image of a cloud-filled sky as the sun was setting because those with Alzheimer’s are largely in the sunset of their lives and have to contend with many issues that cloud their lives. Prayer for an Alzheimer’s Sufferer Please grant my visitors tolerance for my confusion, / Forgiveness for my irrationality, / and the strength to walk with me / Into the mist of memory my world has become. Please let them take my hand and stay awhile / Even though I seem unaware of their presence. / Help them to know how their strength and loving care / Will drift slowly into the days to come / Just when I need it most. Let them know when I don’t recognize them / that I will . . . I will. / Keep their hearts free from sorrow for me / For my sorrow when it comes only lasts a moment – / then it’s gone. And finally please let them know / how very much their visits mean, / How, even through this relentless mystery, / I can still feel the love. Amen

It is said that the downtown east side of Vancouver is the poorest area of Canada. This is an older part of Vancouver, with many buildings dating from the city’s early days. A milder climate seems to attract “street people” from across the country, creating an area rife with all kinds of social problems. Wandering this large area of the city with my camera, I came across this young woman asleep in the doorway of a church. My heart went out to her, and all those I encountered who are in need. I don’t know her story, beyond what this image reveals. Nikon D300, Nikkor 24-70 mm lens, ISO 400, -0.33 EV, f5.6, 1/2000s.

Wonderful News: as of 28 Nov 2009, 3 witch doctors have come to Christ! Once (in this photo) a professional witch-doctor, / one of those who harm, frighten, and bully poor / villagers into paying her with food, money, and / other things the sick people who call ner need, / this woman is now a Sister in Christ who buys / and sells clothing for a living. To our horror, / even child sacrifice is sometimes practiced / by such ‘professionals’. / / Please visit my Charity Mission While God uses us to help his children large or small, no one mission or one person can do it all. We need help with so much, here in central Africa. We seve several villages, and the need in them is great! We also serve 5 isolated, remote villages with no road or track to them. They have water-holes which the wild animals soil, so badly that nothing, not even boiling, will make this water safe to drink. It’s so full of parasites, even intestinal worms, that lifetimes are shortened, and what poor food is available has its nutrients consumed by the worms. One beautiful but terribly ill little girl we brought back to our Mission Centre actually crawled out of the borrowed vehicle and threw up a stomach-full of these worms! (She’s thriving now.) / / We need unending buckets-ful of vitamin tablets, and for pregnant mothers, prenatal vitamins. These must have Vitamin D in them, to eradicate Rickets in new generations. Our people need crates of clothing in very good or new condition, which will be worn, handed down, laundered the “old fashioned way”, used and reused, until it is / no longer able to serve the purposes of modesty and protection from the sun. / / We need two well-drilling rigs to drill two deep-bore wells which the 5 remote vilages (they’re remote from each other, too) can share. / We need commercial farm equipment. And we need heavy-duty hauling rigs to get them there, that is; the well rigs and the farm equipment. / We need at least one Toyota Land Rover, the only vehicle that can stand up to the beating this trackless, roadless land hands out to motorized vehicles. It is a long walk into the villages, and a long walk bacj to the mission centre, especially if we have an emergency transportation situation while ‘way out in the bush. All proceeds from sales of art of mine or your donated art goes to serve these people in extreme poverty and health conditions. / All donations made through my Chairty Mission similarly go directly to the benefit of these people. / Our overhead is not taken out of the sale proceeds or charity giving. I will return from Africa (to GB) in mid December, 2009.
