  • The creek at Wildnerness Park

  • Flashy taken in Nebraska just before we moved. I love the light in this image and the color of the fall grasses. Photography by Angelandspot 2007

  • ‘Bear Track’ is from a petroglyph in Nebraska, representing one of the most important of all animals to the Native Americans. The bear for them symbolized courage & strength. I am making a sincere effort to present these designs as they originally appeared, with a wee bit of stylizing on my part. This series of tees is intended to honor the ancient ones and the art they left behind for us.

  • Windmill on a golden prairie in Nebraska.

  • The best place in the world to be in March: The Platte river near Gibbon, Nebraska when the Sandhill cranes migrate. Every evening they fly in – hundreds of thousands – to roost on the sandbars in the shallow river. In the morning, at dawn, they will lift off in unison. It is one of the greatest spectacles, and sounds I’ve witnessed.

  • I spent a night in a photo blind at the edge of the Platte river in order to photograph the Sandhill cranes. The birds are very wary and this was one way to hopefully get a better vantage point as they came in to roost in the evening. I was discouraged at first that the night of my reservation proved to be very cloudy and by the time the majority of the birds had come to rest on the sandbars it was mostly dark. Determined to go away with whatever I could get, I set my camera for a longer shutter speed and was really pleased to capture both the motion of the current and the slow graceful movements of the birds as they preened and waded in the shallow water. I can’t imagine a more beautiful place to be in early Spring when the Sandhill Cranes migrate by the hundreds of thousands and use this 80 mile stretch of shallow river as their safe haven while they rest, gain weight for their long flight, and establish life long partnerships through elaborate dance. / /

  • This is another version of Smith Falls on the Niobrara River in Nebraska. You don’t find a lot of waterfalls on the prairies but this one is worth pulling over for.

  • Located in Nebraska City, Nebraska

  • I’ve been to Eppley airfield in Omaha Nebraska several times. I never stopped to look closely at Carter lake which lies on the other side of the street to the terminal entrance. Today while bringing my Canadian friend to Omaha for his return flight to Ottawa, we decided to “drive through” and check out this small lake with the outline of the city as a backdrop before saying farewell. Walking over the small knoll in the parking lot, we were met by an enormous expanse of water lilies – of a kind I have never seen before in my life. Cameras and tripods were at the ready, and we spent quite a bit of time photographing the area before suddenly realizing that we had not checked the time for several minutes. The sudden awareness of a possible missed flight threw us into a frenzy of gathering up equipment and rushing across the street. Flushed from the heat and with the images from the previous hour forgotten, I waved goodbye to my friend as he jogged down the long hall toward his departure gate. Hours later, I opened my files on my camera to find these beautiful lilies and a bittersweet joy flooded my heart as I realized how precious are the times when time stands still. / /

  • A haystack in a dusty field on an early September day in the early evening. Actually, the stripped bark of a tree.

  • THE SUBJECT: / This little girl just happened to look back as I was training my Fuji her way hoping for something to happen. Not much time to make a shot and I was hoping that the vehicular and pedestrian traffic would ease off just long enough. Photographer’s Luck was on my side! / I could not resist the title. THE LOCATION: / My favourite caffeine oasis, the Créma Espresso Bar in Port Macquarie, NSW, Australia has moved from its riverside location to a larger premises in the CBD. While this means the end of my riparian candid photography it also means the beginning of some serious street shots as the new Créma is on a main intersection. / This shot was made while I was sitting at an outdoor table with a Nikon shooting Port Macquarie Panthers Camera Club mate. We both had a ball! THE MAKING of ‘Looking Back from Nebraska’: / Because of the great contrast in the scene I set the exposure with a B&W in mind. / Fuji S9600: RAW, Manual settings of f/4.9 @ 1/500sec, Continuous focus, ISO80, Hand held. / Lightroom 1.1 & Photoshop CS3. Visit the Candid and B&W and Monochrome collections in my BubbleSite Gallery for more interesting people in interesting situations. Enjoy! CANDID / (Click the links!) • Pedestrian bridge in Omaha, Nebraska.

  • Office building in Lincoln, Nebraska that has unique features and fantastic colors especially when highlighted by the sun and creates wonderful light & shadow play.

  • Panoramic of supercell thunderstorm that occurred near Hyannis, Nebraska (the “Mullin Storm”) on May 20th, 2009. The storm created winds in excess of 60 mph along with golf ball sized hail. If you’re a storm lover – this panoramic will print to a giant poster that you’ll love looking at!

  • Decided to upload another angle of a pic posted several months ago called tubular green. This is a view looking up inside of an old empty WWII water tower-possibly better than the first pic?

  • abandoned rural church on the Nebraska prairie monochrome, no edits

  • Parking garage in Lincoln, Ne. This is the 3rd time trying to capture this building at night & hopefully it works-either way too much work not to upload onto R.B.

  • I’m not sure the name of this building in downtown Omaha, Nebraska. I’ve seen it a hundred times from a distance but never realized how cool it looked up close until the day I took this. Cannon 40D 10-22 EFs.

  • I’ve never uploaded back to back pics of the same subject but the first c.b. was by mistake but before I deleted I recieved some positive feedback. So I’m going to run both side by side & see what happens-thanks for commenting!.
