Looking south to Wollongong from Garie Cliffs in Royal National Park. Royal lies sandwiched between Wollongong and Sydney. Because of the light from both cities this shot of the Milky Way has but a fraction of the actual stars visible and less than 1% of this would be visible within the cities. / Makes for a pretty picture but where does wonder go when the light blocks out the stars? The night sky is the only time we ever get to see the infinite. What happens to us when we lose that? / Tv 30s / Av f3.5 / ISO 3200 / FL 10mm

Somewhere in the Lakes District, England, at the bottom of our hike, we stopped and rested in this beautiful spot, beneath mossy boughs. / Knowing this was Beatrix Potter country, you almost expected to see Peter Rabbit hopping down the lane, torn jacket and all.

Located two miles east of downtown Columbus, it is a premier horticultural and educational institution showcasing exotic plant collections, special exhibitions, a signature collection of work by glass artist Dale Chihuly, and a permanent installation by renowned light artist James Turrell. Set within the 88 acres of Franklin Park, the Conservatory houses 400 species of plants from a variety of global climate zones and features the historic John F. Wolfe Palm House where more than 45 species of palms are represented amongst more than 120 individual specimens. Franklin Park Conservatory owns a signature collection of Dale Chihuly glass artworks, with several works on permanent display. The entire collection will be remounted in 2009 in an exhibition titled Chihuly: Reimagined.

This was the coachman’s house on the Rheola Estate in the Neath Valley, South Wales, now, sadly derelict. The image has been digitally manipulated from an actual photograph using textures to help create an old painting effect.
