  • have you ever wondered what might be hidden on the dark side of the moon? http://www.mnsu.edu/emuseum/prehistory/latinamerica/south/cultures/nazca.html

  • Not a very beautiful shot, but quite relevant if you’re interested in the enigmatic Nazca Lines of Peru and my favourite of the collection. Nobody really knows why these massive designs were created in pre-Inca times – the white lines are actually raised stones, as opposed to trenches and to give you an idea of scale, those are hills of several hundred feet on the lower right. How the early people could see to design their creations without flight to view them is a mystery! There are several sets of lines and they are quite a few miles apart so we went up in a 4-seater Cessna to take a look! Seeing these was definitely a mind-blowing experience and if you get to go to Peru, try to fit a flight over here into your intenerary! :o)

  • On a boat trip around the Ballestas Islands in Peru, we passed the Candelabra, a 50m Candelabra-shape etched into the desert hillside overlooking the sea. Their are numerous theories as it its origin. Has it something to do with the near by Nazca Lines? Or is it an old pirate warning overt two centuries old? Or was it created by aliens from outer space? Who knows? But it does look impressive.

  • Taken on the island of Espanola in the Galapagos.

  • Nazca, Peru Graffiti comes and goes… Canon EOS Rebel XT

  • Nazca, Peru Aerial shot of the ‘spider’. These mysterious lines are something to behold, originally thought to be made in an attempt to appeal to the gods.

  • Abstract digital mixed media / photographs and flame fractals /   / 9.8 megapixels (3840×2560), 2009.02.14th /   / This is part of a current graphic project where I hope to design an album cover for a friend’s ethnodrones soundscape music. More details soon. / Although no material I used is directly linked to Peru, and I didn’t know about Paracas culture before researching it from my friend’s track title (‘Paracas’), it seems his music, that I listened to while creating the picture, magically guided me towards this abstraction strangely reminiscent of Pre-Columbian geoglyphs. Hence the name I chose aftwerwards (translating as ‘From here to Paracas’). /   / © 2009 by Nodakami / www.nodakami.com

  • Nazcz Booby (Sula granti). Taken on Genovesa Island, Galapagos, Ecuador, South America – 2008

  • My favourite of the Nazca Lines. The lines are so parallel, so perfect, so worked over the centuries; it’s almost unbelievable that they were completely forgotten about for almost two millenia
