This Naval Aircraft Factory N3N-3 is seen about to touch down at the 11th Great Vitage Flying Weekend at Hullavington, England. / A rare beast (the only one on the UK register) was used by the US Navy as a trainer and was painted bright yellow, giving it the nickname “Yellow peril”. / This one was built in 1942 and is based on the Isle of Wight. / I thought I would give the image a suitably “retro” feel….

On the far south coast of NSW are some of the most gorgeous beaches, second only to those in the Illawarra :). This wharf is rather extensive and is used by the woodchip industry and cruise ships call in here and get bussed off to visit local tourist attractions.

I’ve recently started a project to help veterans of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom. For all the military themed art that sells off my site, I will donate 100% of my share to the Wounded Warriors Project and Defend a Defender. Please check out the websites at: http://www.woundedwarriorproject.org http://www.defendthedefenders.org Both of these organizations hold a very dear place in my heart for the work they do for our military and their families! Being a former Marine and a Marine’s wife, I cant even begin to explain to you the burden that is lifted just knowing that these organizations are out there doing what they do. This is my way of giving back to those who have given so much for us! Thank You for taking the time to visit!
Ink drawing: Pilots and crew refered to this plane as the “Big tailed beast”. It was big for a aircraft carrier based plane. It was suppose to replace the other aging dive bombers but was plagued with so many problems that it almost missed the war. After WW2 the Navy quickly transitioned this airplane to it’s guard units which were land based. It did however see some combat again in Korea, but then again phased out for good once the jets started to come into play.

Chance Vought F4U Corsair 2009 Greenwood Lake Air Show/ West Milford, New Jersey Nikon D70/Tamron 200-400mm Zoom The Chance Vought F4U Corsair was regarded by some Japanese pilots as the most formidable American fighter of World War II. The U.S. Navy counted an 11:1 kill ratio with the F4U Corsair-meaning 11 enemy aircraft were shot down for every Corsair that was lost. The performance of the Corsair was impressive. It was the first single-engine U.S. fighter to fly faster than 400 mph and was also the first Navy aircraft to feature fully retractable landing gear for a fully streamlined wing. The Japanese allegedly nicknamed it “Whistling Death”, for the noise made by airflow through the wing-mounted oil cooler air intakes.
