HI ALL I AM A NATURE LOVER BY ALL SENSE OF THE WORDS. BUT I GREW UP AS A CITY GIRL, AND HAD ALWAYS DREAMED OF ONE DAY IN MY LIFE BEING ABLE TO GO OUT INTO THE WORLD AND TRY TO FIND MY PIECE OF HEAVEN. I HAVE LIVED ALOT OF DRAMA , HEARTACHE, TRIALS, AND TRIBULATIONS IN MY LIFE. AN MOST PEOPLE FEEL THAT THERE IS ONLY BAD THINGS THAT YOU CONSTANTLY HEAR OF COMING FROM OUR INTERNET, BUT YOU NEVER HEAR THE GOOD THINGS. I MET MY CURRENT BOYFRIEND THROUGH A FRIEND OVER THE INTERNET AND DECIDED TO SEE FOR MYSELF IN ALL THE TRAVELS I HAD DONE ANOTHER PIECE OF EARTH I HAD NOT SEEN AN HAD NOT PLANNED TO STAY, BUT IN ALL TRUTH ONCE I WAS HERE AN SPENT TIME WITH HIM AND HAVE SEEN THE BEAUTY THAT LIES HERE IN PORT TOWNSEND, WASHINGTON I KNEW THAT THIS IS HOME FOR ME. I HAD FOUND MY PIECE OF EARTH AND HEAVEN THAT DREW ME IN. AN NOW AS OF SEPTEMBER OF 2007 I WILL FINALLY BE LIVING IN MY OWN LIL PIECE OF HEAVEN. SO I HOPE YOU ALL WILL ENJOY MY WORKS AND ARTS AS MUCH AS I DO TAKING THIS WORK AND DISPLAYING IT FOR YOU TO SEE AS WELL NOT TO MENTION HOW SWEET THE PEOPLE I HAVE MET HERE ARE AS WELL.

Good work for 2008 to all I have been terrifically busy and unproductive. In the new year I would lilke to focus some work in the subjects in my one or two groups. Perhaps raise the idea of a wetlands group? This can encompas that wonderful area between land and water – the wetlands… and the issue of climate change’s threat to the source of llfe there and the world over. I have discovered that there is a wonderful area near where I have moved to, my seachange, in a spot called Yarrahappini. It will need a 4 wheel drive outing, but I hear the mangroves are magnificent and the place is a haven for many types of waterbirds and native animals. Wow. Sadly, there is not much about it on the net, yet.

I have had a busy few weeks, but I have started to set time aside each day for my photography. Little did I know that I was taking about …
I have had a busy few weeks, but I have started to set time aside each day for my photography. Little did I know that I was taking about 2000 photos a month, so I am still a little backlogged from June. I took some time today to recharge my batteries, and something drew me to a special spot I have here near a reservoir/dam tonight. I think it was probably that same something that tells me every once in a while to check out the moon, or the shifting stars, or the latest flower blooms in the local parks. The last week has been pretty hot here, with temperatures in the high 80’s…so it is always refreshing to get a wind or two from the North…and a rainshower or two. Anyhow, this afternoon, the breezes seemed to come from the North, and I just felt the weather was perfect for one of my bike treks into nature, so I set off. I ended up on the reservoir about the time the sun was beginning to make its descent into the horizon. I saw a beautiful place along the shore that was full of rocks, yet still had a perfect unobstructed view of the sunset, so I set up shop. I had my camera at the ready, testing the light and framing the shots I had in mind. As I was waiting for the sun to get to the perfect golden glow on the water, I decided I had enough time to fish a little. I have gotten in the habit of carrying my backpack with my fishing gear as well as my camera just about ever time I leave the house. As I was pulling my bait back in, and the water was starting to move, the light sort of lit up certain rocks as it lit up the water….and I was amazed at the patterns I saw of the water as it hit the rocks…it was almost like the water had a rhythm or cadence, and the rocks were there for me to see when the waves hit them. The rocks didn’t change, but the water did….and it was the water that seemed to wrap itself around the rocks every two or three seconds, sending perfect ripples out in concentric circles. I got my camera, of course, and tried to time the rhythm of the ripples so I got ever larger circles, but the weird thing was that the water looked like it was as smooth as glass every other shot, even though I just saw the perfect ripple. Finally, I realized it was me…I wasn’t anticipating the shot, but reacting. I finally got the rhythm, and I got some nice shots off as the water started to turn its amber hues. The whole thing was almost one of those zen-like moments you never expect, but somehow, nature has its way of teaching. I also got my sunset over the water, and again, it was one of those things that never ceases to amaze me. I think the water and sunsets go together, no matter where I am in the world….and they are the one thing I always look forward to each day I am near the water.

Teaming up with a number of great photographers, my partner and I are very happy to have launched a new place where people who shoot landscapes and nature images in Tasmania can get noticed, and offer their work for sale. It has been a long road in the development stages, but we are finally happy with the way everything is coming together in our new online gallery. With the gallery only having gone public on Christmas Day, and our print partner out of action until January 5 2009, we are not expecting to see a rush of orders coming through. All new enterprises have to start somewhere though, and it always takes time to build reputation and familiarity with a solid customer base. In time, we believe that this can become a great outlet for anyone who shoots images within our genre. We are always interested in exhibiting new photographers and their work, though all images must first be approved before they make it into the gallery. In this way the standard is kept high, and potential customers have lots to drool over. We are also interested in hearing from people who are able to promote sales across the internet, and offer a commission on all sales you generate. If you are looking for great images of Tasmania, a photographer who produces Tasmanian images, or able to promote sales, especially within Australia, why not take a look at our gallery and get in contact with me for more information.
