  • Latin for ‘Light of Nature, Light of the Godhead’. / Original done with watermedia on Arches cold-press cotton rag.

  • 9.5×12.5 pastel enhanced watercolor on a heavy, textured watercolor paper (regretably, I don’t remember the manufacturer) that was quartered. Available. A rose is a flowering shrub of the genus Rosa, and the flower of this shrub. There are more than a hundred species of wild roses, all from the northern hemisphere and mostly from temperate regions. The species form a group of generally prickly shrubs or climbers, and sometimes trailing plants, reaching 2–5 metres tall, occasionally reaching as high as 20 metres by climbing over other plants. The name originates from Latin rosa, borrowed through Oscan from colonial Greek in southern Italy: rhodon (Aeolic form: wrodon), from Aramaic wurrdā, from Assyrian wurtinnu, from Old Iranian *warda (cf. Armenian vard, Avestan warda, Sogdian ward, Parthian wâr). Rose hips are sometimes eaten, mainly for their vitamin C content. They are usually pressed and filtered to make rose hip syrup, as the fine hairs surrounding the seeds are unpleasant to eat (resembling itching powder). They can also be used to make herbal tea, jam, jelly and marmalade. A rose that has aged or gone rotten may not be particularly fragrant, but the rose’s basic chemistry prevents it from producing a pungent odor of any kind. Notably, when balled and mashed together the fragrance of the rose is enhanced. The fragrance of particularly large balls of mashed roses is enhanced even further. Rose hips are also used to produce an oil used in skin products. Rose shrubs are often used by homeowners and landscape architects for home security purposes. The sharp thorns of many rose species deter unauthorized persons from entering private properties, and may prevent break-ins if planted under windows and near drainpipes. The aesthetic characteristics of rose shrubs, in conjunction with their home security qualities, makes them a considerable alternative to artificial fences and walls. • Totem #1 is the first of a series of pieces that represent an animal attached to a human figure, like if they are part of the same body. They can also be animal totems, if you prefer. The Totems carry also a very simple concept: our deep attachment to Nature as one single thing. In those pieces, I intend to make the human head always black and white and naturalist, while the animal is colorful and filled with abstract shapes. watercolor and pencil on cold press watercolor paper / 12×8.5

  • Liquid watercolor on Yupo (Robert Doak paint) This is actually part of a much larger piece of a tree by the river. As the paint and water were flowing this little mushroom just magically appeared. It kind of got lost in the larger painting and I thought it deserved a bit more attention. Is that what you would call serendipity? I hope you enjoy the little guy : ) I do! Mushroom Magic was featured on the RedBubble homepage! Take a look – I have proof!

  • A Poem for this Piece by same Name / Practice Fish I want to be your slave / I want to be the queen you must drone on about / I want to be the corpuscles and the blood work / That says you will be dead without my infusion Typical physic paradigms / And lofty schemes / All to hold on / To / The someone that becomes / Casper the friendly ghost / Flying in to tell me that if I just follow / My dreams / He will too / From a café in Paris / He will read all about me! / His heart will soar. / To the ethers of forever / Whence we came, / He and I / By the by I am in the Andes. / Eating coca leaves and the bruja says / There is something a brewing / A storm is coming / A wind funnel is changing and I must go! / Run she says run run to your destiny / It waits on a wailing wall in darkness / Bring them light she says / That’s all that matters. / The light is all that will satisfy you! / But she is wrong / I think / I wanted to just be in bed with you / Hearty cup of tea and practice fish / Listening to the song of / Letting me go. / Oh shit / Even here you and the fish practice / The backstroke / To a place where you watch me / Find the light that old bruja said I should / Find / The only thing that will make me truly happy / She said, / But I don’t think so / I think / Smoking one last cigarette / After 11:00pm / With you would have been better. / But I don’t know that either, / Cause I can’t find that light.
