  • Kayaker off the coast at Larrabee State Park. View out across Bellingham Bay at the Lummi Islands, from Larrabee State Park, a state park in Washington, located six miles (10 km) south of the city of Bellingham. It was the first state park to be created in Washington. Larrabee State Park had its beginnings in 1915, when the Larrabee family donated 20 acres of land to the state with the intent that it be made into a park. In 1923, the new park was officially named after Charles Xavier Larrabee. Shot this with my Panasonic point and shoot camera. • Each morning that we awaken to the wonders that each new day brings, the wonders never cease to inspire gratitude… / During the past three winters here at Wind River Ranch, we’ve been blessed to witness the regal beauty of several eagles making our space their own residence as well. Watching them fishing for Chinook Salmon and Trout along the Naches River is poetry in motion and then there are the various species that seemingly get along and share territory. We have golden eagles and bald eagles as regular winter visitors here, besides so many other raptor species. / This bald eagle is perched in what my husband and I call the “Message Tree”, which sits between our cabin and the river. He didn’t seem to mind my coming outside (this time) to take a few shots. As is, other than cropping. / “Great wings outstretched in the wide skies, the eagle soars, majestic, bold – my heart cries out to the wise sky-traveler. He hears my plea. Illumination and truth come to me as his blessing.” DJ Conway
