I took this shot this past winter. This is part of the reconstructed stockade wall that surrounded the ancient city of Aztalan, along the banks of the Crawfish River in Southeast, Wisconsin (about 50 miles from Milwaukee) which thrived around 1050 and 1100 A.D. / Each pole stands about twelve feet above ground and is sunk around 4 to 5 feet below ground, all dug out by hand. It’s been thought that perhaps as many as seven thousand trees were used to surround the 22 acre city. I will up-load another shot later which will give a better perspective of these poles. / Anyway, I thought the shadows coming off the wall presented a unique photo op.

A place I used to go to as a kid, we walked over the causeway to reach the other side of the creek, there was no walkway then or over pass. It was always exciting as the different heights of the cement wall seemed very tall. There were always nice plants in this area.
