  • Lone railroad piling on Tallulah Lake ~ Reflections on the past. Tallulah Falls was once a thriving tourist spot as popular for summer visitors as Niagra Falls. Hotels once lined the gorge which has since been damed by Georgia Power and turned into a lake. The gorge beyond the lake remains a popular attraction for hikers, nature lovers and kayakers today. / This piling is one of the few remains of the old town’s glory. The railroad reached Tallulah Falls in the late 1800s and then continued on through Tiger, GA (Which still has a drive-in theatre) to Clayton near the North Carolina border. Tallulah has a lot to offer including one of Georgia’s oldest boarding schools, numerous hiking trails, camping areas and lakes. / Follow this link for more on Tallulah
