  • “Peace is not a relationship of nations. It is a condition of mind brought about by a serenity of soul. Peace is not merely the absence of war. It is also a state of mind. Lasting peace can come only to peaceful people.” / – Jawaharlal Nehru The Untapped Source Store – Portfolio/Blog – deviantART Shop / “To live a creative life, we must lose our fear of being wrong.”

  • This is the first in a series I foresee doing, to increase awareness to the plight of endangered and threatened animals from around the globe. This First Edition focuses on three of the largest and most endangered carnivores today, the Sumatran tiger, the Amur leopard, and the Snow leopard. These are by no means the only imperiled wild cats, as the majority of wild cat species smaller in average body size than 30 kg are at a critical stage. / / / Because without these animals I would never be able to bring their beauty to you, I am going to pledge to donate 100% of all of my sales proceeds from cards and prints of the imagery in this series here on Redbubble to Wildlife Conservation Society Thank you for your support in the race to stave off the extinction of these magnificent creatures.

  • WILD & FREE / / Honey (named after the colour of her eyes) and her three cubs were very obliging to rest on this ridge whilst they scanned the plains for breakfast. Taken in the Masai Mara early one morning about half an hour after sunrise, this is one of my favourite images and I find myself always coming back to it. / / (Masai Mara – Kenya) / / The world’s fastest land animal, the cheetah, is a unique and the most specialized member of the cat family and can reach speeds of 70 mph. Unlike other cats, the cheetah has a leaner body, longer legs, and has been referred to as the greyhound of the cats. It is not an aggressive animal, using flight versus fight. With its weak jaws and small teeth, the price it paid for speed, it cannot fight larger predators to protect its kill or young. The cheetah was once a common animal found on five continents, but is slowly losing its race for survival and is now classed as an Endangered Species! • My cousin Mary lived her entire life in a wheelchair. She was a sweet gentle spirit who died as a young adult. Her mother missed her terribly and so did her sisters. A red spotted purple butterfly began to “visit” their garden shortly thereafter, and the sight of it brought my cousins and my Aunt Lucille such joy and peace they took it as a comforting sign from heaven that Mary was sending smiles and love their way. Today, this red spotted purple literally kept running into me as I was trying to make my way to a flower bed to do some weeding. Well, it got my attention alright, so I put away the gardening tools, came inside to grab my camera, and starting clicking away. It lingered and lingered and was so accommodating, something that I’m not accustomed to seeing with the butterflies in my yard. I enjoyed my little visitor so much, and I’d like to dedicate this image to Mary and my Aunt Lucille who has since passed away. I think of them every time I see the blue butterfly named “Red Spotted Purple.” Maybe they were just dropping in to say hello to me today and to bring smiles and love, via a butterfly, from heaven. Maybe Mary was telling me, “I can walk now, and I can fly!”

  • Thank you so much Sande for giving me the opportunity to choose one of the beautiful horses in your portfolio to paint. I chose the horse in Seeing Spots. Just found out his name’s Rocky. What a guy!! Sande has a wonderful bunch of photos that are well worth a look. This portrait is not cloned but digitally painted with brushes, picking up the colours of the horse. To finalise the painting, in PhotoImpact X3 I did a few touches with the warp tool, bristle brush for the mane here and there and smudged the background a bit. Altogether this took me around 8 hours. I hope I’ve done him justice. Thanks for looking and thanks very much Sande for hours of enjoyment and for your permission to put this up for sale! xxxx :-)
