The tawny frogmouth is a much loved Australian night bird. This particular one keeps an eye on me just to make sure I’m not meaning any harm.
living wild above the village of Saas Fee, a wonderful place in the Swiss Alps, this little marmot enjoys a piece of carrot to gain enough weight for the long winter sleep.

South Georgia is an amazing place, although the beach where this image was taken, Salisbury Plain, is out of this world!!! / / The image was taken from a hill and is of king penguins and their chicks. There are approximately 250 000 penguins at this breading colony! It’s amazing how they find each other! The sound as you come over the hill is tremendous, not to mention the smell!! / / The chicks are so inquisitive and come right up to you. I think they just want some food! / / (Salisbury Plain – South Georgia) / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / /

Gentoo Penguin on top of some tussac grass. / / (Antarctic Peninsula) / / Melting sea ice and overfishing have triggered a dangerously rapid decline in penguin populations on the Antarctic peninsula – a direct result of global warming, warns a new report from the WWF. The gentoo, chinstrap and adélie – along with the emperor, the largest penguin species in the world – are now struggling to survive as melting sea ice reduces vital food sources, such as krill. / / Gentoos are now listed as nearly endangered on the IUCN Red List. / Read about it yourself here / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / /
King Penguins hanging out on the beach! / / This is one amazing island that you all must try to get to, if you don’t mind four days in rough seas on a boat that is!!! Photograph taken at Healesville (many moons ago) on black and white infrared film and printed on black and white photosensitive paper. This shoot turned out a complete mess because I forgot to take the canister out of the camera in total darkness and thus fogged the entire roll of film. Despite the disaster, I quite like how this image turned out – grainy and fogged, it kind of has another world, another time about it.
I lie in bed next to you and hear your soft deep sleep. / I feel your body’s warmth as you gently breath the air. / Your warmth has such a pleasant feel lying next to me. / That I can’t resist the feeling that I feel beneath the sheet. / Your breath is like a baby’s breath as I lie here close to you. / I take it in with all my power to be a part of you. / I feel the heat come from my body underneath the sheet. / I take a look at your soft lips and come real close to you. / I gently touch your lips to mine and wonder in their power. / Your lips have left me very warm and my love for you is present. / I feel what you are doing to me underneath the sheets. / As I slowly gently kiss your lips as you deeply sleep tonight. / Your sleep is deep I take my time and measure each new breath. / They come in time like music as I measure every beat. / I take my time to realize that your deep beyond my world. / And then I slowly take my time and go underneath the sheets. / Your beauty here way down below is second to your face. / I love its little curly hair that sits so close to you. / And your pure lips that lie so close are saying please come closer. / And as I come so very close I smell your sweet flower. / And the power that it gives to me has my heart a fire. / I slowly listen to your breathing and feel your tummy too. / They work together like a symphony as I am captured by their sounds. Their steady beats have lift me up and filled my soul with power. / I take a moment to admire what God has blessed you with. / And then I slowly ever slowly caress you with my tongue. / Your taste is like a warm summer breeze like swimming in the sea. / Its smell is like new born baby’s skin full of life’s unknown. / I dare not linger very long for I might break your sleep. / But like a bandit in the night I’ve taken what I want.
Don’t worry guys, this little one was just sleeping. I had wondered up to the upper viewing area and captured this little guy sprawled out in the straw having a midday nap. Photo taken at the Calgary Zoo, Primate building

Photo made in Planckendael zoo – Belgium Koala, – happily sleeping in its tree… Koala (Phascolarctos cinereus ) wikipedia) The Koala Bear is on the IUNCR red list of endangered species (Status: Least Concern ). Why is the koala endangered? (source “Wikianswers.com http://wiki.answers.com/Q/Why_is_the_koala_endangered) / Koalas live only in eucalyptus forests and are completely dependent on these forests for their survival, both as a habitat and as their primary food supply. Human activities such as farming, logging, and urban development endanger the koala by destroying eucalyptus forests.
