  • Late summer round baled hay basking in the afternoon sun. Pretty goldenrod and summer grasses growing along a rustic fence line.

  • The Hayden Ranch, 10 miles south of Leadville Colorado on US 24 Founded in 1859 the Hayden Ranch operated mainly as a hay ranch through the 1890s, providing feed for the horses and mules serving Leadville Colorado’s mining industry. With the Silver Panic of 1893 and the arrival of the automobile a few years later, the ranch turned to grazing cattle. Since 1947, the ranch has only been used seasonally and the historic buildings began their decline. I had no idea what the place was until several years after I took this photo exactly as it appears here strait from the camera lens. I just thought it looked great – one of those “turn the car around” moments. .

  • Seiser Alm and Langkoffel, Dolomites, Italy

  • I spied a home up on the hill, / a bird rests on the window sill, / The cows enjoy the meadow sweet / and from the lambs a tiny bleat / the farmer works his trusty plow / and wipes the sweat from on his brow / whilst out the front -a broken fence / among the weeds so very dense / supports an old but much loved sign / held in place by orange twine / “Maryland” it tells us hence / lies within this boundary fence / seven hundred and seventy three / was this number given to me / though it speaks of a past long gone / there stands a sentinel tall and strong / a letterbox all shiny and new / will find its place in this history too This was such a pretty sight, the old nameplate tied up with orange string, the tired and crumbling fence and the unevenly painted numbers shouting to all and sundry that ther is a home up on the hill with a family and a history. It was a homestead along Picton Road NSW, such a contrast of the old tired and worn fence and nameplate and the shiny new silver letterbox.

  • On the way to Kilkenny City this morning just outside Paulstown. I just had to stop the car & take a quick shot as the trucks & cars hurtled by feet away…the cows munched away happily oblivious, no longer sensitive to the almost constant Celtic Tiger din passing only a few feet from them.

  • I remember times gone by when my coat was shiny red / when the cows grazed next to me out by the milking shed / there were no emails, faxes or mobile phones way back then / my importance in family life was ranked in the top ten / we used to write to loved ones, share the news, a joke or two / It was the foundation of communities and made us strong and true / we went down to the local store and passed the time of day / we chatted about families, then we went along our way / communication was an art form which required lots lot of skills / these days its all so different cause computers pay the bills / we do our online banking, computer auctions place our bids / we even buy our groceries and send E-cards to the kids / with discs and bytes and ram- computer language is no fun / and memories and surf the net and programme’s we must run / I long for those days of old when waiting for the post / was the highlight of the day, the thing we loved the most / my coat is now cracked and faded but I can still relate / cause now theres junk mail by the tonne so I just sit and wait This image is straight from my Kodak Z8612IS`camera and the words are straight from my heart, taken in Picton NSW- thanks for dropping by

  • An old Birdhouse in Elizabethtown PA Kodak P850 / Flash: Not Used / Focal Length: 12.4mm / Exposure Time: 0.013s (1/80) / Aperture: f/2.8 / ISO: 50

  • Statue reflected in a pond at the Artesa Winery in Napa Valley, California.

  • Below the falls, we could feel the mist on our faces while photographing it… / run off empties into Lake Superior down a narrow area sided by a large rock face…......gorgeous spot to view – but a treacherous walk down hill…......

  • NIkon D70 Just a little bit of a different angle than Bridge Over Whatcom Waters

  • Featured in Stream Crossings July ‘09 NIkon D70 This is a beautiful park of about 240 acres located in Bellingham, WA. There are trails, beautiful trees & greenery, a fish hatchery, picnic areas, pond, and this beautiful creek running right thru it all! The sandstone bridge was built in 1939-1940 by the “Works Progress Administration”, part of The New Deal administration created by President Franklin D. Roosevelt to help provide jobs during the tough economy of that time period. This is an untouched photo, I did absolutely nothing to it! Whatcom Falls Park /
