  • Robins are members of the thrush family, the same family as their bluebird cousins. They winter here in southern Louisiana so it’s always a welcome sight to see the first robin of the season as temperatures start to dip (though never very drastically in our pretty mild climate). I photographed this robin on a bare branch last winter.

  • Robins are such cheeky, inquisitive birds. / This one kept its eye on me over its “shoulder” as if to say he wasn’t really going to admit that he was taking an interest in what I was doing. / /

  • Location Taken Hinchingbrooke Park, Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire, United Kingdom. The Robin red breast such a cute bird. This particular morning It was very cold indeed however this little guy didn’t seem to mind ! Robins sing nearly all year round and despite their cute appearance, they are aggressively territorial and are quick to drive away intruders.

  • Background taken at our local botanical gardens several years ago. The fairy was taken at home last weekend in my back garden. New shadow added. Wings made some time ago, but altered today. All creatures added as layers.

  • These chicks had to be starving. They devoured one worm after another as Mom kept the supply coming and Dad was very close by keeping a close eye on the human with the big lens.

  • Mama and baby waiting on Dad to bring food.

  • The European Robin (Erithacus rubecula), or, in Anglophone Europe, simply Robin, is a small insectivorous passerine bird that was formerly classed as a member of the thrush family (Turdidae), but is now considered to be an Old World flycatcher (Muscicapidae). Around 12.5–14.0 cm (5.0–5.5 in) in length, the male and female are similar in colouration, with an orange breast and face lined with grey, brown upperparts and a whitish belly. It is found across Europe, east to Western Siberia and south to North Africa; it is sedentary in most of its range except the far north. / The term Robin is also applied to some unrelated birds with red breasts. These include the American Robin (Turdus migratorius), which is a thrush, and the Australian red robins of the genus Petroica, which are more closely related to crows.

  • Close up of a little baby robin perched upon an old aluminum bucket. This little guy napped, sang, chirped, stretched all while I was able to creep nearer and nearer over about a half hours time. He couldn’t fly too far yet when he finally did. It was a windy and sunny Illinois morning.

  • After exploring the woods around Becky Falls in Dartmoor, we stopped for tea and scones as you do in the UK and this little fella came to see if we could share some crumbs with him

  • The American Robin (Turdus migratorius, also called North American Robin) is a migratory songbird of the thrush family. It is named after the European Robin because of the male’s bright red breast, though the two species are not closely related. The American Robin is widely distributed throughout North America, wintering south of Canada from Florida to central Mexico and along the Pacific Coast.

  • Signed print of a Robin. Taken at Netherfield Lagoons in Nottingham, UK. I was on my way home in failing light, when I saw this Robin land in a tree just ahead of me. Because of the light, I had already attached my flashgun to the camera and was able to get several shots of it singing, before it disappeared into the undergrowth. I liked the way the flash created the blue background.
