After a really sunny weekend I was able to get out and take some photos. Instead of travelling far I set my sights on the garden and decided to take a lie down with the grass… the fruits of this can be seen in my artwork. I also visited Ham Wall nature reserve at Shapwick Heath near Meare. I haven’t found any amazing pictures from my set but I just enjoyed the experience of seeing quite a few thousand starlings (a million perhaps?) swirling around in all sorts of shapes. There were around 100-200 people watching so it really felt like a special event… and all for free! I’ve paid money to see different events that weren’t half as good as this. Thankyou nature.

I’d love input on this- does anyone have any first hand opinions on Parc du Mont Tremblant, or Algonquin Provincial park? It’s not like I’ll get up there soon, but I’d like to know if they’re worth taking a 10 hour drive to see them. :)

/ early-spring-in-the-reed-corner My regular watchers may have noticed that many of the pictures I’ve been uploading in the past two weeks belong to my Reed Corner collection . And also in the coming week more of these will be uploaded. They have priority for a special reason…: All those pics are made in, or in the immediate neighbourhood of, the Reed Corner (NL. de Riethoek), a small nature reserve in Amsterdam South-East, with wooded banks, bushy area’s, wetlands and swamps – paradise for birds and small animals. / In the past year, I have spent many hours there, admiring and in awe for the wonderful nature and the many plants and animal species living there, ad trying to capture their beauty in my photographs. Now, the Amsterdam South-East city counsel has plans to start building houses at exactly this location. How sad and destructive would that be! / Local organisations have joined together in a platform, to organise action in order to protect this awesome nature reserve. / Today, May 30 2009, there will be a big manifestation on several locations in the natural areas that are threatened. By showing some of my photographs, and making them available for purchase and publications (contact me ;) ) , I hope to contribute a little bit to the awareness of the value of this beautiful place, in the midst of a very populated, urban area… Steppeland / Soft blue crane’s bill / Centering / As far as the eye reaches / Hidden Beauty

In the dry season in Etosha (I mean the season dryer than the already dry average of the Namibian desert), animals concentrate around waterpools. Because some lions or other predators may also be around, it is safer to move together to the bar! So after antilopes for example, there may be a lot of zebras coming, creating some hypnosing visions… Etosha, Namibia. If you like, please visit my Bubblesite: / http://saka.redbubble.com/

This is a Goose that was at Western Springs the other night. I just kinda liked how the sun was very bright and since I had the exposure down on my camera the rest of the grass was really dark. The sun was almost down when this picture was taken. Western Springs is a nature reserve for all sorts of birds, in Aucklands City.

Taken 27.12.2009. / / I don’t know the name of this plant or even if it’s an Aussie native but it seems likely that it is as I took it at a beach which has a large area of native vegetation and the flower is similar to many Australian native flowers. / / Thanks for looking and commenting. This is another flower from the same bush – it’s not a particularly good one but it shows the whole “flower”. It’s been deliberately over-sharpened, and then cropped to make it a little easier to see what it looks like.
while walking around calke park nature reserve we found a tree near a stream that had huge icicles hanging from its branches.
