  • Not a very good photo, but I wanted to share this with you anyway. Max and I were sneaking up on him slowly, hidden by a large tree.

  • It has been a while since I have loaded an eagle of the day and I forgot to look at the last number but I had to put this one on the site. I was lucky today and spotted six bald eagles, but this was one of only two I could get a good shot of. They were in their usual place (if you have been following my photos), which is the Snoqualmie Valley, along the Snoqualmie River, in western Washington. They like to hang out at this big dairy that is one of several in this valley. It has been a few days since I had seen any so I was very pleased to come across these this morning. I took this photo on May 6, 2008, at 9:25 AM. I used ISO of 100, shutter speed of 1/200 and f/5.6, with WB at cloudy and exposure Program. As always this is one of my great passions and getting a good photo of the bald eagle.

  • A common orange spider eating a fly.

  • I heard this guy as i was walking with little one home from school. I grabbed the camera off the counter and headed back to look. I found him sitting in the tree just resting in the shade. its been exceptionally hot these last few days! I think this is either a juvenile or female merlin ( pigeon) Hawk but i’m not sure. David my dear? any ideas? lol

  • canon rebel xsi / 75-300mm lens / uv tiffen fliter / tripod Part of my mothers day request was a family hike! So we set out early this morning before the rain descended! Unfortuantely i was not able to rent a larger lens so this was taken with the 75-300mm lens. i had visited this beauty about two weeks ago, i had a feeling then that she might be sitting on eggs. Much to my surprise and delight I discovered Not one but two beautiful bald eagle babies alongside mom in the nest! As soon as I realized there were two babies. I let out a whoop and hollered at Ariel.. omg she has two babies!!! lol missy grinned and said i know mom i can see them. It was amazing to watch. I’ve asked to be able to document their growth and permission has been granted!. i should mention that the gentleman i spoke with this morning stated that normally the bald eagles are not here this time of the year. they usually take off in the early spring and do not return until late fall. so we are alittle amazed that this pair chose to nest here during the summer.

  • Photo taken June 14/09 ,Trenton, ON / Info: Nikond300 f 5.3 1/1600 sec ISO-400 0 step SP 70 – 300 mm lens, fl 180 mm max aper 4.7 / This image has been cropped and shadows lightened Commonly known as the Fish Hawk /

  • A mosquito hidding behind a leaf , just waiting his prey.

  • Image taken Sept 24/09, Aikins Rd, Quinte West, ON This particular hawk has played a few games with me. He knows my car and he knows i check on him regularly. Most times I cannot even get out of my car and he’s gone but other cars can drive by and he’s fine. On this day I decided to walk down an old farmers lane and not even try to get near the hawk. He spotted my car and came right to me , swooping right over my head. If you check out the eyes , the pupils are downward …..........they are fixed on me, lol. /

  • Elf Owls are the smallest species of owls in North America, if not the world. They stand a mere 5 3/4 inches high. They range from the Big Bend in TX, to SW NM, thru the southern portion of AZ. We are fortunate to have a breeding pair return to our property each March, nest and fledge young each July. This bird and its mate are two of the most photographed Elf Owls in SE AZ over the past 6 years, as many birders and photographers make a point of booking time at our B&B during the owl’s presence. www.battistebedabdbirds.com

  • A Falcon with a Dove it caught in my backyard!!

  • Barred Owl – Strix varia / Image taken Nov 10/09 at Presqui’le Provincial Park, Brighton, ON Not Cropped / This owl was quite accommodating for pictures after I finally found him but there were so many branches distracting from the subject that I removed them in PS and blended the background in Painter X Owls traditionally hunt at night or dusk but they will come out on cloudy days in the later part of the afternoon as I found out. The voice or call is unlike anything I have ever heard in my life….....almost like a terrorized child. This handsome bird is stocky in build with a 21 inch wingspan. /

  • I shot this photo in the Springmill State Park with a 500 mm sigma lens using a canon 40d. I have tried for years to get this kind of shot and finally. He flew right over my head. I felt the air. Enjoyed every second.

  • This hawk was taken in Springmill State Park shot with a 500mm lens using a Canon 40d.

  • This photo was taken in Springmill State Park in southern Indiana. I spent a half a day with this hawk. I finally got close enough that I had to back off the 500mm lens to get the hole bird in.

  • This time from other side of profile with bit of posing.

  • Osprey with a live fish on the moment of lift-off. Only the osprey’s head is steady, all else is in furious motion.
