  • Towering above at 13,001 feet in altitude, Summit Lake is breathtaking. Showcasing Mount Evans in the background, it displays wildflowers which are found no where else on earth except the arctic circle. Captured in the morning light and processed in HDR, I really wanted to scene to come to life. • I love photographing in bad weather, there is just something about the drama of it all that amazes me, and this was of no exception. Garden of the Gods outside of Colorado Springs is the location, a place which, is simply magical and unlike anywhere else on Earth…the light here is the best I have ever seen, and even when there is none, it still holds it own. Captured this past early spring, where at the higher elevations the clouds brought snow, but where I was at, it was rain. Processed in HDR with final output through PS. / Thoughts welcomed! —-—-—-—-— See more on my website jdebordphoto.com / All artwork is © John De Bord, All Rights Reserved. • Colorado is certainly known for it’s parks, and this one I happened upon out of the blue one day….it really is a majestic site, with these odd rock formations just jetting straight up from the earth, as if reaching for the sky. I was also lucky enough to capture the distant clouds as they were building for afternoon thunderstorms, later that day….spose you can say I like the sense of drama that they add to the image overall. / HDR processed, thoughts most welcomed! —-—-—-—-— See more on my website jdebordphoto.com / All artwork is © John De Bord, All Rights Reserved. • Garden Of the Gods Park, outside of Colorado Springs, Colorado, is without a doubt one of my all time favorite places to shoot at….the light there just dances, especially during the golden hours just after sunrise…..Pike’s Peak is in the background, with the wind blowing the snow into the sky. / Thoughts welcomed! • I have always these flowers, and I love em even more when the sun hits them at just that right moment and really makes them pop. Hope you all enjoy this one, it is a personal favorite of mine John

  • Lookout Mountain outside of Golden Colorado at Sunrise….quite an amazing morning! Thoughts most welcomed!

  • Winter rolls along in the Colorado High Country along the Mount Evans Wildernes. I decided to do this shot in B&W because I really wanted to emphasize the cold, the drama, and the atmosphere as a whole. Your thoughts, as always, are appreciated! / —John

  • This past week saw me shooting like crazy, making a record 3 trips to the Mount Evans Wilderness Area and surrounding areas in 4 days. Without a doubt, this scene is one that just has to smack travelers and tourists in the face. situated at 10,600 ft (3,230 m) above sea level, the view literally comes out of no where. You round this corner unexpectedly on a twisty road, and all the sudden out of no where you are greeted with this huge lake and THIS scene of mountains and it floors you. The scene itself is just so, well, incredible, like something you usually only see in a fine art painting, or in some distant land in National Geographic….honestly, it is one of the most amazing views I believe I have ever seen. Personally I much prefer it to The Maroon Bells which is better known, and why it’s better known is beyond me. / So hang tight folks, I have MANY new photos to come and share with you all. Let me know what ya all think!

  • Country Lake Thunderstorms One of the things I have come to really value about living in Colorado is the ability to be able to get a little “off the beaten path”, as we say, in the matter of no time. You add that in with the element of having some of the changing weather anywhere, and you just never know what you will happen upon. Take this scene here, the clouds, so dark, came out of no where and fast, with the rumble of thunder, captured outside of Evergreen, Colorado, this storm would later be the very same storm which caused havoc with Tornado’s and ripped the town of Windsor to shreds. Glad I wasn’t around anywhere when that happened, considering how much they scare the heck outta me! It was a much calmer scene when I photographed it here, and an lake/pond that was not named. It ws actually quite serene and tranquil…. Processed in HDR, output through Lightroom/Photomatic/LucisArt/Photoshop / Thoughts welcomed / —-John

  • A Conversation With the Clouds Captured at an elevation of 11,990 ft (3,655 m), standing atop Loveland Pass is like being able to touch heaven and the clouds. When I captured this, the slight hint of the scent of snow was in the air, and conditions up here can change literally by the second. It is right along the Continental Divide, and the views from up here are simply paradise! Processed in HDR and captured on my Minolta 5D using a Minolta 18-200 DT Lens and a Hoya Polarizer http://www.redbubble.com/products/configure/5778657

  • A Morning Stroll At the Lake Every now and then we almost miss a shot, and luckily this time I happened to turn around as I was walking back to my car from shooting the sunrise and had this scene greet me. Captured at Cherry Creek State Park outside of Denver, Colorado, the light seemed to almost dance among the trees. Processed in HDR

  • Sutton Bank is a high vantage point at the very edge of the Hambleton Hills and the North York Moors with extensive views over the Vale of York and the Vale of Mowbray. Because of its location and high elevation, Sutton Bank is popular with gliding and flying enthusiasts. Predominant landmarks include Whitestone Cliff and Roulston Scar, the former overlooking the mysterious (and reputedly bottomless !) Lake Gormire. Close nearby are the villages of Sutton-under-Whitestonecliff, and Kilburn (famous for the White Horse of Kilburn, and Robert Thompson – the “Mouseman” of Kilburn). / Sutton Bank is one of the most spectacular inland cliffs anywhere in Britain, and carries one of the most hair-raising main roads in the country. The near vertical drop from top to bottom is around 140 metres, and crosses at least two major geological boundaries. / The Sutton Bank National Park Centre is on the western edge of the fabulous North York Moors National Park – home to the largest expanse of heather moorland in England. It provides the perfect introduction to the National Park, its people, history and wildlife. Nikon D60 / HDR in Photomatix & pp in PS CS3 / Lens: Nikkor 18-200mm / 1/160 f/9.0 ISO200
