“Quietly lying by her barn, this pretty ewe made me stop my bicycle ride to pay her a visit. In a placid cool afternoon, she greeted me with a sweet glance and a calm disposition. Her face was beautiful and her eyes melted my heart. Surrounding a sea of amber and golden hues, her long white eyelashes framed surprisingly bright eyes. / / Taking close-ups on her adorable face, a rainbow of colours and patterns unveiled: the iris wore fine lines defining a gradient of rich earth colours. Her eyes sparked like jewels. When I bade her good-bye, she quietly turned her head towards me in what I took as a kind invitation to visit her once again. “ / / / Image © Carmen Mandel-Cesáreo / / / —-—-—-—-— / Artist statement / My photographs are not enhanced; they represent the true nature and colours of the subjects as captured by the lens. “This leopard mother with her two juvenile sons were sleeping their siesta. Lazily lying on a rock, they naturally composed by themselves a pretty collage. Each individual bears a unique pattern in different hues. / / Their bodies aligned in a way that formed a triangle among them. “She lay quietly among other flowers. As if unaware of her intense beauty, she humbly shared a crowded stand in a farm. She whispered by my ear and I turned. My eyes were filled with her regal colours as my heart halted. “Maize, a basic staple. Yet, glorious Indian Corn colours grace autumnal days. Each grain weaves a pattern in a tapestry meticulously designed. Piled upon each other on a farm stand, the rich colours of the corn ears make a delightful array of surprising beauty. / / I find inspiration in the simple elements of Nature by discovering, at a closer look, their elaborated forms, their patterns and intricacies, their sheer beauty. They teach me a lesson on survival, too. The colour in the Indian Corn grains is governed, each, by a different gene. The pigment may aid in the defense against diseases, hence, a wide array of colours in a single corn ear raises the chances of survival.” / / / Read more about Indian Corn in my written article: / / Indian Corn- Nature’s Kaleidoscope. / / / / Image © Carmen Mandel-Cesáreo / / / —-—-—-—-—-——- / Artist statement / My photographs are not enhanced; they represent the true nature and colours of the subjects as captured by the lens. I think this photo really demonstrates the feeling of the little mining town of Real del Monte in the state of Hidalgo Mexico. / El Real is built at 9000 ft (2,700 meters) above sea level, so it is nearly always in the clouds. It has some of the oldest gold and silver mines in Mexico and claims such great achievements as being the “Cuna del Futbol en Mexico”, (The birthplace of Soccer in Mexico) and home to the northern hemisphere’s first labor strike by New Spain’s first miner’s union which ironically was organized by the Spanish Virey who owned the rights to the mines. It has been an active mining center for 5 centuries and is still home to many active silver smiths. El Real is full of steep streets, and stairways where streets are impossible, and is scattered with intricate English inspired stonework in every nook and cranny. If you visit El Real del Monte, don’t leave without tasting several of the local Pastes which are an adaptation of the cornish Pasties brought over by the English Companies that ran the mines for many years. There’s so much more to say about this little known Mexican town, so please follow this LINK for more information. Also see Guided by a Star And My written work The 3 Windows /

I hope you see something in this ….. / there is just something about seeing three different birds. in a swamp…....... in the damp moist muggy.. habitat…..... each surviving. each leaving for now to do each do their thing. The wingos the anhinga must be tried. and this ritual of the wings spreading takes sometimes a good ten to fifteen minutes..
