Canon 20D – 17-40mm L – 17mm – 1s – f/11 Antelope Canyon is the most-visited and most-photographed slot canyon in the American Southwest. It is located on Navajo land near Page, Arizona. Antelope Canyon formed over the course of millions of years by erosion of the Navajo Sandstone, primarily due to flash flooding and secondarily due to wind erosion. Rainwater (especially during monsoon season) runs into the wash that Antelope Canyon is part of, picking up speed and sand as it rushes through the narrow passageways. Over time the passageways are eroded away, making the corridors wider and smoothing hard edges in such a way as to form characteristic ‘flowing’ shapes in the rock. Upper Antelope Canyon, called Tse bighanilini, “the place where water runs through rocks” by the Navajo, is the most frequently visited by tourists, due to two considerations. First, its entrance and entire length are at ground level, requiring no climbing. Second, beams (shafts of direct sunlight radiating down from openings in the top of the canyon) are much more common in Upper than in Lower. Beams occur most often in the summer months, as they require the sun to be high in the sky. / In the same series: / / /

Usually a tag team like this isn’t really fair, but somehow I think that Mama Tiger can handle herself with these two. :) It’s nice to see tiger breeding programs in action, as tigers are on the critically endangered list. Unfortunately, these beautiful animals are the white bengal variant, which is not found naturally in the wild and is a product of the white tiger breeding trade. These beautiful and innocent tiger cubs were not bred by the zoo; rather, the mother tiger was rescued from a breeder and she was already pregnant when the zoo rescued her. In fact, the American Zoological Association prohibits its members from acquiring and breeding white tigers because the rate of genetic defects is high and the white tiger trade engages in terribly unethical practices. A February storm unleashes its power in the beauty of non-stop lightning over Spencer Gulf in South Australia. This 15 second exposure shows just a small sample of a spectacular night’s viewing. The tiny lit chimney, that you can see on the left (which belongs to the lead smelter in Port Pirie), is actually 205 metres in height, which gives perspective to this, the power of natures finest glory.

This is again, from a drive through the back roads of the Dandenong ranges in Victoria. I was just driving around and stopping to photograph things that caught me eye (I wound up lost too). This is a plot of land behind a farmhouse near Seville.

I was comming back from breakfast in the village where I live when I saw this scene ,I stoped ,couldn’t beleive that I wasn’t able to see on the other side of the lake.Heavy fog and soft light gave me the opportunity to do this image,I just love it ,makes me think of an old painting. If you look carefully ,you will see the other side’s shadow. The reflection was great because there were no fog in front of me just on the other side.A very foggy sunrise it was. When I did this shot it thought about «Water world» and how our the planet is beautiful even with a little piece of land. / / / /
