{inspired by Pilgrim’s story of Hunting with Aboriginals} We were camping at Doolena Gorge, a place somewhere in the North of Western …
Grow the seeds inside your mouth…let blood and mud and vine come out.
He is the true king of beasts….. the largest mammal on earth…. beside whom the lion is a mere….
Just In case you forgot or just didn’t see / What about that old spectre …
Before my Nanny (Gorgina) Borroff completely lost her ability to speak because of vascular dementia. She fought hard to get across her meaning. It has been heartbreaking trying to try to pick up on what she wanted to say with seemingly random words with desperation. somtimes it felt like if I looked hard enough her efforts felt profound. / strangely after a poetry workshop at her day centre everything she said from that point was then carried with a poetic rythm. similar to the rythm I fell into writing this. I hope I have passed on the meaning I found in her, all of my family and friends and the places I love. This is my first attempt at poetry so please bare with me. Just really had to get something off my chest. You may have noticed that it’s changed a little bit since it first went up but I think I’m done now. I dare you to google an Oil Beetle, it’s not for the faint hearted.
Oh no, I’ve never been, / Down to the wild glen, / Where the red, red roses grow…
Dedicated to my best friend of all time, Tara. This one’s for you.

I will be writing more about the “sagebrush safari” that I enjoyed with my RebBubble friend, Ann Appel, and her husband, Rich, whom I met in person for the first time on 26 May, 2009 … but this brief moment on our journey through some eastern Nevada back country may well stand as my most memorable piece of it
I wonder… / if she were to see her own reflection, shining / exponentially, like some great boon from the arc / of her own abstract – / would…
This is a metaphor – surprise! Like everything I write isn’t jam-packed with my favorite poetic device. The tool here being the Female Angler Fish. Did you know, that the pictures you’ve most likely seen of the angler fish, are all female? These big, beginning of time looking beasts; all big jaws and teeth, and a lightbulb lure on top of their head, are all female. the male looks like a tiny, fat guppy. plain as day. To mate, the male sniffs out the female, and attaches itself to the side of her stomach, bites into her flesh with his sharp little teeth, and is slowly absorbed right into her until he is totally gone? His sole purpose is to become her. I thought it so strange and cool that I had to write about it. i’m sure you all understand that need. :)
