There were so many beautiful palms in the Kimberley. This was taken at Zebedee Spring’s in El Questro Station. A magical thermal springs of cascades, pools and palms. I could have spent hours here (we did!)

A fascinating and beautiful beach on the west coast of Norway. These huge boulders roll in and out when the powerful North Seas waves hit them. It makes an eerie and almost frightening sound.
Every now and then I like to “step outside” my boundary of usual subject matter and do something really different. This is one of those images. Captured outside the town of Central City, Colorado, I happened by this scene by luck, along with the other 2 cemeteries close by it. Long closed, these are the real deal “wild west’ cemeteries, long forgotten, long not seen. Looking like a scene out of the movie “Pale Rider”.....I had to photograph it. The ruts in the ground were still visible from where the old wagons used to carry the bodies up from the town. Quite an amazing place…. / Thoughts welcomed! —-John —-—-—-—-—-—-— / More of my work can be seen on my website at http://jdebordphoto.com / All artwork is © John De Bord, All Rights Reserved. Colorado is certainly known for it’s parks, and this one I happened upon out of the blue one day….it really is a majestic site, with these odd rock formations just jetting straight up from the earth, as if reaching for the sky. I was also lucky enough to capture the distant clouds as they were building for afternoon thunderstorms, later that day….spose you can say I like the sense of drama that they add to the image overall. / HDR processed, thoughts most welcomed! —-—-—-—-— See more on my website jdebordphoto.com / All artwork is © John De Bord, All Rights Reserved. This old Aermotor Windmill in southeastern Colorado serves up the perfect infinity pool for this crowd of bovines.

Country Relaxin’ EarIier this year, ventured up to Guanella Pass and onwards to the Ghost Town of Como, a literal timewarp that harks back to the wildwest, fully intact and persevered, few folks still live here. It is high up, probably close to 10,000 feet, and this winter has been VERY bad in the high country. In fact just last week they interviewed a resident of Como and she talked about how the town was totally cut off of supplies…which made me right away think of the horses there. I have photographed these horses the last 5 years now, and I always find them so friendly…not your typical horses, these are true and tried working horses…where Cowboys still exist and the west still lives. Upon entering Como, I was shocked at the snowbanks, over 20 feet high, and they were plowed out finally from a construction crew using Caterpillars. And low and behold, so was the feeding field for the horses….... :) I was happy they were ok, as I was quite concerned, as they have become kind of a good friend to me and my camera. More on Como can be found here and here and it’s history as a Wild West town Thoughts welcomed / —-John
From Trillium Lake, quickly passing clouds briefly expose the summit of Mt. Hood, making the pinnacle all the more dramatic.
This was taken in West Yellowstone On 10/25/08. This little coyote was pretty brave. Scavaging for food that people might spare. Unfortunantly due to humans feeding him, he most likely will be put down by park rangers, due to his “no fear” policy. Please don’t feed the animals!!!
Multnomah Falls, Oregon, USA, Taken Summer Vacation 2007 Multnomah Falls is a waterfall on the Oregon side of the Columbia River Gorge, located east of Troutdale, between Corbett and Dodson, along the Historic Columbia River Highway. The falls drops in two major steps, split into an upper falls of 542 feet (165 m) and a lower falls of 69 feet (21 m), with a gradual 9 foot (3 m) drop in elevation between the two, so the total height of the waterfall is conventionally given as 620 feet (189 m). Multnomah Falls is the tallest waterfall in the State of Oregon. / The Multnomah Creek Bridge on the Historic Columbia River Highway. / Colorized picture of the waterfall before the footbridge was addedUnderground springs from Larch Mountain are the year-round source of water for the waterfall, augmented by spring runoff from the mountain’s snowpack and rainwater during the other seasons. A foot trail leads to Benson Footbridge, a 45-foot (14 m)-long footbridge that allows visitors to cross 105 feet (32 m) above the lower cascade. The trail continues to a platform at the top of the upper falls, the Larch Mountain Lookout, where visitors get a bird’s-eye view of the Columbia Gorge and also of “Little Multnomah”, a small cascade slightly upstream from the “upper” falls, which is not visible from ground level. The footbridge is named after Simon Benson, who had the bridge built in 1914.[1] Photo taken by Canon IXUS My work is copyrighted and does not belong to the Public Domain Copyright:All Rights Reserved / Registered:Mon Mar 23 21:30:17 UTC 2009 / Fingerprint:Show digital fingerprint / d8131b583587455963e4e871bab7088b06eb562ff73f80d69f8e2defe4f7f042 / Title:Serenity / Description:Photo of Multnomah Falls Oregon USA / MCN:CB372-797DF-ED9B6 “Serenity” FEATURED FOR RB Homepage…...Thankyou so much RB:):):) / Plus…one of the top Ten in ‘The Best of Oregon” Challenge:):):) And ‘CONGRATULATIONS!!” To all the contestants and everyone who made the Top Ten:):) Proudly Taken By a Canon IXUS….Canon Simply the Best:=}

Description…well its kinds obvious, its a Cod in a Cave ;-) Ok, its a Black Cod (Epinephelus daemelii) sorrounded by Eastern Pomfrets (Schuettea scalaripinnis) at Fish Rock Cave (http://www.southwestrocksdive.com.au/) off the Northern NSW Coast, Australia (http://tinyurl.com/a99zm4) Black Cod are classed as a “Vulnerable” species, they are not yet and hopefully will never be endangered. Follow the 2 links above and from one you will see a drawing of Fish Rock Cave. This dive site is one of the must-do dives not just of Australia but of the world! The classic Fish Rock photograph is similar to this one but with Grey Nurse Sharks so it was great to get this shot, particularly as the Black Cod are relatively shy and tend to run and hide when divers approach. This shot also features in one of my calendar’s

... but for how long? Our wild horses are at the center of tremendous controversy, as the government agency whose purpose is to protect the herds, announced that they have run out of funds for maintaining more than 33,000 captive horses—and one “solution” was mass “euthanasia”. Recently, the BLM proposed eliminating eleven wild horse areas from the Ely, NV District. All 620 horses in this area would be permanently removed from their natural environment, purportedly blamed for “environmental damage”. Photo taken at a marsh I love to frequent in Quinte West, Ontario, Canada. This male mute swan was putting on a wonderful display for his female partner during mating season. This image taken at the Babcock State Park in Fayette , West Virginia. The Glade Creek Grist Mill is a new mill that was completed in 1976 at Babcock(Fayette , West Virginia). Fully operable, this mill was built as a re-creation of one which once ground grain on Glade Creek long before Babcock became a state park. I have another composition from further away , but the Sun burst in this image is much more prominent , along with the lighting.
