This pair of Bald Eagles are our Winter residents at Wind River Ranch, they usually have their offspring to teach them how to fish the Naches River. This photo was inspired by the words of Cherokee Chief “Two Eagles”, who was asked by a white U.S. Government official, “You have observed the white man for 90 years. You’ve seen the wars and his technological advances. You’ve seen his progress, and the damage he’s done.” The chief nodded in agreement. The official continued, “Considering all these events, in your opinion, where did the white man go wrong?” / The chief stared at the official for over a minute and then calmly replied, / “When white man find land, Indians running it, no taxes, no debt, plenty buffalo, plenty beaver, clean water. Women did all the work, Medicine man free. Indian man spend all day hunting and fishing; all night having sex.” / Then the Chief leaned back and smiled, “Only white man dumb enough to think he could improve system like that.” I was reminded of Chief Two Eagles today, by Elsie Duggan, who forwarded me an email about these wise words spoken and very tough to argue ;) WindOwl / /

I created a video today with some of my favourite photographs. It includes a beautiful mele by Keali’i Reichel. / You may view it if you like on my YouTube site / Ourjrny YouTube E Ala ‘E Please let me know what you think of it. Self Portrait / Here I am on the western slopes of Ulupalakua / Maui Hawai’i / The elevation here is, I’m guessing, about 4000 feet above sea level. That reflection of light below is sunlight reflecting off the ocean. That is Wailea, Kihei and Ma’alaea Bay down below on the coast. My dearest friend Suzane and I parked her car about 2 miles away near Keokea and walked up along a narrow gravel and cinder road to the meadow at this point where we watched the sunset together on a beautiful peaceful evening as the rains and mists drifted across the valley below. I set up my camera on the tripod and after adjusting the settings for low light, walked over and rested on my knees in the tall damp grasses. The only sound I heard was the soft breeze in my hair. I really hope you fall in love with this latest portrait design of mine! I had been noticing for several days now a beautiful spray of beautiful baby’s breath which has surprised me as it sprouted near the woods behind my house! Oh, what a treasure & a pure delight & a wonderful blessing from God! I consider God to be the MASTER DESIGNER! I had spread seeds in my garden near my mailbox a few years ago of this type…I must have redistributed the seeds as I usually clean out all of my flower beds once the season is over!
