  • Dainty erigeron daisies in a delicate pink seashell

  • I can’t even count how many sunflower images I have taken. I can’t seem to get enough of these big, joyful flowers…...to me they are sheer happiness. This is one of my favorites.

  • Another revised image, taking out the border

  • Weird name, huh? Yeah, lots of seashells only have Latin genus+species names, and the Scalptia mercadoi is one of them. This belongs to a family sometimes commonly called “Nutmegs”, so I’ve nicknamed this one “Sculpted Nutmeg”. Again, nothing has been done to this shell to enhance its appearance. It isn’t carved, painted, dyed or polished. All is 100% natural. This specimen is approximately 25mm (1”) long. Try “view larger” for even more detail.

  • I like how nature so often emulates your real emotions and feelings. This shell appears to be all alone even though we all know there would be hundreds of other shells on the same beach. Just like my feelings now, I know I have a lot of friends and family that care for me so I am certainly not ‘alone’.... and yet without having that ‘special person’ in my life I still feel lonely. Not alone, just lonely.

  • inside the shell … i wonder what little under water critters live in here then …

  • From the proper angle and magnification, an ordinary shell can resemble a mountain, spiraling upward.

  • Large View Recommended. St. John’s Harbour, Newfoundland. Canon 450D (Rebel XSi) / ISO 200 / 55mm / f/5.7 / 1/60 sec / RAW converted to HDR Anyone else see a butterfly? ;)

  • Emerging from it’s nympal skin, which once packaged this veracious aquatic predators developing wings underwater- this dragonflies body and wings will expand and harden to enable it to pursue meals aloft.

  • A digital macro shot of one of my favourite shells, a paua shell from New Zealand where I found the image of a seahorse amongst the patterns. My second image for Red Bubble.. and yes I need a decent camera! This was shot using an everyday camera.. Canon IXUS 50.

  • How long have I been here, subjected to the mercy of this tropical sun? / Day after day, / Sunlight leaching, bleaching colour from my form / A slow burning or is it integrating? / All colours into “one”?

  • A snail resting in the late evening sun

  • This little creature was moving slower than anything I have seen before but I knew where it was headed, once it had started climbing up the garden rubbish from the demolition of the once upon a time jungle I took some photo’s this being the best.

  • I’m an avid seashell and fossil collector. I found these on a beach in South Africa, where there is an abundance. 2008.

  • How long does the sand remain a part of the ocean? When it is blown away from the ocean, how long before it returns to the ocean?

  • It took over a week of waiting in a hide to get this shot of a Gull chick. This first chick hatched through the night. The second to the right is just starting the arduous process of breaking out of its shell. / Canon 40D / Sigma 50-500
