Canon 10D / 17-40mmL Antelope Canyon is the most-visited and most-photographed slot canyon in the American Southwest. It is located on Navajo land near Page, Arizona. Antelope Canyon formed over the course of millions of years by erosion of the Navajo Sandstone, primarily due to flash flooding and secondarily due to wind erosion. Rainwater (especially during monsoon season) runs into the wash that Antelope Canyon is part of, picking up speed and sand as it rushes through the narrow passageways. Over time the passageways are eroded away, making the corridors wider and smoothing hard edges in such a way as to form characteristic ‘flowing’ shapes in the rock. Lower Antelope Canyon, called Hasdeztwazi, or “spiral rock arches” by the Navajo, is located a few kilometers away from the upper Antelope Canyon and is a more difficult hike. Captured along the Mount Evans Wilderness in Colorado, this is one of those waterfalls that kind of sneaks up on ya outta the blue, and if you blink, you actually miss it. I really don’t much in the way of long exposure shots, but after being happy with how this one came out, I am going to start doing them more. Hope ya all like it! I am lucky enough to live right next to a forest so I took the kids bush walking and got this photo of the sunset through the long grass.. I just really liked the golden tones and I had a different grass image but have taken it down and replaced it with this one.

This is the second HDR image shot the other day on my girlfriend’s property.. I was inspired to try my hand at an HDR involving a dam after seeing some of the brilliant work here on the Bubble.. I think it turned out well and I liked how the image almost looks as though it is bent if you look at the tree line.. / As always comments are most welcome! Thanks a lot for looking! Drove up here after a long day of taking photos hoping to catch a good sunset, ended up being pretty good. A composite of 15 images if you include the 3 shots taken to make each HDR photo. Stitched together using photoshop and did a bit of touching up in Lightroom. Sales 1 Matted Print 1 Poster On Saturday the 7th of February my family lost our home away from home at Marysville, as well as our two Rhodesian Ridgebacks and our Abyssinian cat. My condolences go to anyone who also lost family, friends or property on this terrible weekend, and I know deep down that Marysville will be back and better than ever, in the near future… Click here for my other images of the Yarra Ranges

In quiet light, a golden glow / lasting a hundred perfect heartbeats… Artist’s notes: I have had the wonderful chance of seeing herons actually sunning themselves like this. In fact, there was one day that absolutely struck me with awe about the playfullness of these birds. I was working with a sheetrock crew, and the house we were at was on the banks of the Columbia river. We’d had a series of strange weather incidents in the valley, all of which flooded the river, and actually made a huge mess of it with countless trees/logs, branches, etc. being swept down the mountains and into the water. So for a couple of days, there was an endless log jam floating down the river. I was taking a break at the house during one of those days, and noticed herons standing on the logs floating down the river. They had their wings held out like in my picture above, and they were facing the sun. They would float down just so far, then turn and fly back up river. Next thing you know…here they’d come again… on a new log. All day long these herons kept repeating that cycle, catching rides on the logs while they could…and sunning themselves in the process. I thought that was so interesting and cool. PLEASE VIEW LARGE This is one of the most peaceful shots I took. Thus the illusive and loving Wendy Slee has been called by these very leaves to meet them. / Note: within minuets of the viewing Wendy channeled this poem and I knew then when you follow how you feel all becomes like a bright light of Love. Multnomah Falls, Oregon, USA, Taken Summer Vacation 2007 Multnomah Falls is a waterfall on the Oregon side of the Columbia River Gorge, located east of Troutdale, between Corbett and Dodson, along the Historic Columbia River Highway. The falls drops in two major steps, split into an upper falls of 542 feet (165 m) and a lower falls of 69 feet (21 m), with a gradual 9 foot (3 m) drop in elevation between the two, so the total height of the waterfall is conventionally given as 620 feet (189 m). Multnomah Falls is the tallest waterfall in the State of Oregon. / The Multnomah Creek Bridge on the Historic Columbia River Highway. / Colorized picture of the waterfall before the footbridge was addedUnderground springs from Larch Mountain are the year-round source of water for the waterfall, augmented by spring runoff from the mountain’s snowpack and rainwater during the other seasons. A foot trail leads to Benson Footbridge, a 45-foot (14 m)-long footbridge that allows visitors to cross 105 feet (32 m) above the lower cascade. The trail continues to a platform at the top of the upper falls, the Larch Mountain Lookout, where visitors get a bird’s-eye view of the Columbia Gorge and also of “Little Multnomah”, a small cascade slightly upstream from the “upper” falls, which is not visible from ground level. Part of the “Out of Place” series exploring the culture / nature divide – our alienation from nature. I find it perplexing just how easily we humans get mesmerised by work that is often intrinsically meaningless and the virtual world which seems mainly mired in trivia. It’s all the more strange when you consider that the bulk of humanity has only lived in cities for less than 100 years. Prior to that, for countless millennia the natural world was all we knew. / I spend hours in the Park and it’s interesting watching the way other people relate to it. For example, this set of falls is literally 1 minute off the main road through the Park. There are 3 sets of fall each more majestic than the one before. And yet the average amount of time that people spend here I’ve noticed is less than than 10 minutes. 10 minutes!! And then off home to get ready for work or to sit down and watch 4 hours of T.V. / I / just / don’t / get / it. / Still – one advantage – fewer people to bugger up my shots. / Anyway this is part of a series attempting to portray this collective psychosis of our species. Yes she is actually sitting there on top of a 30m waterfall – not photoshopped- very brave I thought, though we did take the wheels off the chair so she didn’t go sailing over. / Medium Size Print/Cherry Frame/Off White Matt Watercolour crayons, watercolour pencils, faber castell pencils, ink, acrylic, wax, gesso acrylic, chalk pastel, pen, charcoal on paper This began as a drawing while on holiday at an island resort, it’s one of those paintings that seemed to have a mind of it’s own, and wanted to be painted a certain way…even though I had different ideas, this is the end result. LOL I was originally going to colour her very gently with wax and soft pastels…but she became more and more vibrant as I went along. Perhaps the colouring says something of how vibrant we become when we are well rested, balanced and relaxed.
