  • Nestled outside of Copper Mountain in Colorado, this caught my attention fast as I was coming back home to Denver. It literally came out of no where, and thus I slammed on the breaks and made a B-line for the shoulder of the road. This was an utterly incredible scene, looking like it has never even been touched by man…..standing here looking at this, was nothing but absolute paradise….. / --John —-—-—-—-— See more on my website jdebordphoto.com

  • Being able to escape our little town and hike all these different trails is probably the best feeling and activity that we have here in the summer as long as you are a nature lover. Well this image was taken this summer as part of the Musical bumps trails which joins 3 summits at an average of 7500 feet. This circuit is 21 km long and ties in with The Singing Pass trail. / Taken with my handy Canon Xt, sigma 17-35mm lens / Part of this series /

The Virgin River Canyon Recreation Area is the only developed campground you will find on the Arizona Strip. Whether you are having a picnic, or spending the night, don’t neglect to hike the short trails leading to the Virgin River, and to a hilltop site where geology and history are explained. • Nikon D50 / Nikkor 70-300VR

  • Featured in “AMERICA’s National Parks and WILDLIFE Habitat” – June 2009. Featured in “Utah Landscapes” – July 2009. A reflection in the pool of water at the base of Neon Canyon’s Golden Cathedral. This angle shows only a small part of the sandstone wall surrounding this large alcove in the Utah desert. The green areas are plant matter growing on the vertical rock wall. Changes to original photo include: moderately increased red and green, greatly reduced blue, slightly increased saturation and reduced brightness. Normally this is a reddish brown sandstone which can appear “golden” but probably not in quite this shade!
