This is a 16×20 pastel portrait of Tigger, one of the residents of Noah’s Lost Ark Animal Sanctuary. Original is unavailable. / His history is not pleasant.. he was kept in a small concrete enclosure for 9 years. After coming to the sanctuary he would lunge at the fence whenever a man would come near. He would also respond that way if the man happened to be holding anything in his hands. He really did not know what grass or kindness was until his arrival at NLA. / Regretably he died in 2004 from what they believe was a stroke. At least his last couple of years were a definite improvement over all those that came before. / I truly hope that another message comes through.. that these animals DO NOT MAKE GOOD PETS.. that’s why places like Noah’s are in existence. If people would just think before they buy that cute LITTLE cub.. life would be easier on all of us especially the animals. After all.. they didn’t ask to be in the situation they are.. and there are far to many unscrupulous people out there that are in it for the money.. / At least with education, we might make a little difference.. even if we save just one animal.. it’s a beginning!! / All proceeds from any sales will be donated to Noah’s Lost Ark Sanctuary for the care and feeding of the animals.

Noah’s Lost Ark got him when he was a mere cub (he’s quite a big boy now.. over 300 pounds) and has lived there his whole life. Would you believe, he has allergies? 9.5×12.5 pastel enhanced watercolor on a heavy, textured watercolor paper (regretably, I don’t remember the manufacturer) that was quartered. As of 12/06/09, 650 views. Available. A rose is a flowering shrub of the genus Rosa, and the flower of this shrub. There are more than a hundred species of wild roses, all from the northern hemisphere and mostly from temperate regions. The species form a group of generally prickly shrubs or climbers, and sometimes trailing plants, reaching 2–5 metres tall, occasionally reaching as high as 20 metres by climbing over other plants. The name originates from Latin rosa, borrowed through Oscan from colonial Greek in southern Italy: rhodon (Aeolic form: wrodon), from Aramaic wurrdā, from Assyrian wurtinnu, from Old Iranian *warda (cf. Armenian vard, Avestan warda, Sogdian ward, Parthian wâr). Rose hips are sometimes eaten, mainly for their vitamin C content. They are usually pressed and filtered to make rose hip syrup, as the fine hairs surrounding the seeds are unpleasant to eat (resembling itching powder). They can also be used to make herbal tea, jam, jelly and marmalade. A rose that has aged or gone rotten may not be particularly fragrant, but the rose’s basic chemistry prevents it from producing a pungent odor of any kind. Notably, when balled and mashed together the fragrance of the rose is enhanced. The fragrance of particularly large balls of mashed roses is enhanced even further. Rose hips are also used to produce an oil used in skin products. Rose shrubs are often used by homeowners and landscape architects for home security purposes. The sharp thorns of many rose species deter unauthorized persons from entering private properties, and may prevent break-ins if planted under windows and near drainpipes. The aesthetic characteristics of rose shrubs, in conjunction with their home security qualities, makes them a considerable alternative to artificial fences and walls. MARION CHAMPMAN is a wonderful artist and a lover of patterns and design.. Printmaking and experimenting with all kinds of materials and colors.. she really turns my head.. Marion… truth be told.. Kauai is not a very pastel-y place.. so I took my photo and gave it a Marion Wash.. I love this shot..I do not know what this is but I spent some time with this guy..It was a very tall tree and that is how the leaves grow on it.. no branches!! Marion’s Chapman’s Pastels inspired Maddy of Smudge ARt Fame to write a most lovely lovely piece.. My gratitude for the Love here is ever growing.. Thank YOu Maddy! What beauty is this I behold ? / “A feast to ones eye”, I am told. / Leaves wrapped in soft hues. / Colors of gold, red and spiritual blues. “A tree without branches ”, she did say. / Just leaves that enfold it in every way. / Lina sad, this tree amazed me so, / I could not look at it and just let it go. It inspired me until I returned home, / In my minds eye, this is the tone. / I know Creator left this for me to do, / So I painted it gold, red and spiritual blue.
9×12 pastel on black Colorfix paper I am always amazed by how the most beautiful and exotic places on the planet are also the most dangerous for humans. I often try to portray this idea in the faeries that I draw. This little faerie is just that, beautiful and exotic, and yet has a look of warning in her eyes.
its a water colour painting….. / reevs water colours and cold press handmade paper!
This is one of the aspects of Mother Nature. It caries the Divine Energy (vibration) of Mother Earth as she gets ready to rest and recoup. / Media – pencil, charcoal, pastel, watercolour pencils, photoshop / Substrate – paper The young lady is The Bird Whisperer, she holds a small injured bird in her gloved hands….. his wing is broken from a fall he suffered when attacked by a larger bird….as the little birds are considered prey…..but he will be okay now he is in the care of ‘The Bird Whisperer’......she is gentle and kind and knows how to heal the little bird’s wing so that he will fly again From the “Connections” Series of new pencil drawings that reveal the connection between ourselves, each other and nature, I hope you like, thank you for looking ;)
10×13 pastel on Tiziano paper This is what I did today instead of the hundred other things I needed to do. The last thing I thought I would be doing today is drawing another faerie….she just wouldn’t leave me alone! I think that is one reason we are so drawn to faeries. We imagine them living in nature wild and free. No laundry to fold, socks to match, kids to pick up, house to clean, dinner to cook. Wild and free and unaffected by time! Because Time is the Revelator!!

Pastel on Colourfix paper (burgundy) 70cm x 50cm The lichen growing on the trunk of this tree intertwined with the bark colours for some reason just reminded me of ‘tapestry’! This is a ‘red gum’ eucalypt growing in the cleared area at the bottom of our property and I pass it each day on my morning walk. This one has been sitting unfinished on my PC for a few weeks, I was just not sure what I wanted to do with it until last night when I was reminded of the beautiful song “Autumn Leaves”, originally by Edith Piaf (in French, naturally), but beautiful also in its English translation as below. This was one of my favourite songs to sing when I was a teenager and I have wonderful memories of singing this to the beautiful piano accompaniment played by my cousin Anina. :) This is a mixed media piece in which I digitally combined a roller ball drawing I did for the purpose, with a chalk pastel drawing and photographic textures and brushes. Proudly New Zealand-made. :) Featured in Imaginative Realism, Sept 26, 2009. / Featured in Dimensions Oct 11, 2009. / Featured in Inspired Art Oct 18, 2009. Autumn Leaves Artist: Eva Cassidy / English Lyrics by Johnny Mercer and Music by Joseph Kosma The falling leaves drift by my window / The falling leaves of red and gold / I see your lips, the summer kisses / The sunburned hands I used to hold Since you went away the days grow long / And soon I’ll hear old winter’s song / But I miss you most of all, my darling / When autumn leaves start to fall Since you went away the days grow long / And soon I’ll hear old winter’s song / But I miss you most of all, my darling / When autumn leaves start to fall I miss you most of all, my darling / When autumn leaves start to fall

Gaia (or Gaea) is the elemental earth goddess in Greek mythology. She is the primal embodiment of earth and her name literally means Earth or Land in ancient Greek. She is considered a Mother Goddess or Great Goddess in the Greek pantheon. She is often depicted as a mature buxom woman.
