A juvenile male Elephant Seal is looking backwards at the photographer (me) Image was taken at San Semion California. This young male was a part of a group that had at least 500 Elephant Seals. The pacific coast is home for this wonderful mammals and San Semion has several locations where they are protected. The day summer arrived and it got stinking hot. This shot was taken at 5am and not a cloud in sight. The days temperature climbed up to 40.2°C in Brisbane. Summer is over is just over a week. This morning was certainly what I would expect in winter, crisp, vibrant and cloudless. Keep it coming…love it

The SS Dicky was washed ashore onto Dicky Beach in 1893 during a cyclone. It was re-floated, but again, heavy seas turned the ship about and back onto the sand where it remains to this day. / / The suburb and beach was named after the ship. The beach is an unspoilt stretch of sun-drenched sand, on Queensland’s magnificent Sunshine Coast. Taken with my 5D and 16-35mm lens and I was so lucky to have a nature spectacle as the fog rolled in from West creating a mystic ambience

Happy New Year everyone! This shot was taken at the Sunshine Coast just before Christmas 2007….well it’s an old shot isn’t it. Taken with my Canon 5D and the EF 16-35mm f/2.8 L II USM Lens. No Filter has been used but I did some fake HDR processing (single shot) using Dynamic Photo HDR. It’s a fun program and a great alternative to Photomatix.

Going back to places I have been over and over before. Different tides reveal formations not seen before which is an incentive to visit the place over and over again…I am now looking forward to the low pressure system currently developing…interesting days ahead

Ke ala i Kahiki , meaning ” the way to Tahiti”. This collage gives tribute to the maiden voyage of the “HOKULE’A”. A ship designed and sailed according to traditional Hawaiian way-finding (navigating only by the stars, Sun, wind and currents.) Which gave birth to the “Polynesian Voyaging Society” and what some call the beginnings of a Polynesian Cultural Revival, in 1976. / Such a feet, whilst being a brave adventure, is but a re-introduction of what was an integral part of Polynesian society, such voyages between Hawaii and Tahiti in ancient times was not by chance, but purposeful and common place, as was it else where in Polynesia and through out the Pacific. / “Hokule’a” is Hawaiian for “Star of Gladness” and gladness it was for many Hawaiians, in which what was rekindled was a link to their ancestors and distant cousins and thus a greater vision and awareness of being Polynesian. / The significance of this event can not be understated and must be placed along other notable and life changing events of the 20th century. / This Collage shows the “Hokule’a” and her crew crossing the equator toward Tahiti, lead by a pod of nai’a (dolphins). Green and verdant Tahiti stands, the sun rises as the moon above bids farewell. A visit to http://pvs.kcc.hawaii.edu/index.html would feed the imagination concerning the triumph of this voyage and all that has sailed in wake of the “Hokule’a’s” first voyage.

Rock formations at low tide. Taken with my 5D and the EF 16-35mm f/2.8L II USM lens. This is a 82mm lens and I am currently using Cokin Filters (handheld).....uuuuurrgh. I am very keen to get a Lee Neutral Density Filter set. If you have this setup I would be very interested to hear from you what experiences you have made in regards to vignetting and what Lee components you have mounted on your lens. Thanks heaps

2008 Copyright. All Rights Reserved to Mariam Muradian. This Outdoor Series was created during the time that my Feral Child and Feral Woman were emerging. I had a claustrophobic time being inside anywhere…even my own house. I could only BREATHE outside. So I spent many days and nights outside. I moved my studio outside. I painted outside only. This series of paintings, I am convinced, cannot live indoors because it will choke the life out of them and they will die; so this series is prepared with heavy heavy sealants to live outdoors forever. I place each one very carefully in their “chosen” place. Each must be a compliment in the truest sense of the word to nature. You can never out-create nature. The series can be vibrant and subdued at the same time, depending on its environment. So once each has found their interconnected, noncompetitive place in the landscape, I watch. I enjoy watching these outdoor paintings live their life! How they communicate and play and change with the light, the blooms, the seasons! It is wondrous to witness! Their subtle variations and transformations are always perfectly, proportionately in sync with nature’s doings. Truly awesome! My ART has reached a Nirvana of sort in this context. It feels so right in my soul. Now you know why I must LIVE outdoors and garden and paint! I have never before felt such passion, such joy, and such inspiration! I continue to paint for this series. I will continue to take photographs of these art pieces as they change, as different colored blooms come to surround them. You must see! Outdoor Art Series Garden Wall (description for context): Grass and dirt in the lower right corner. To the right of this art piece is a large Japanese Cherry Tree which now has buds that will bloom into beautiful bright pink flowers soon. Just above the art is a flowering tree with white flowers. Ground level to the right is green grass with assorted wildflowers and black dirt and pink wild roses ground cover and white flox ground cover. To the left of this piece is a tall white birch and two creamy white rhododendron bushes. In front and to the left slightly of this art/nature scene is our black/coppery outdoor dining table and chairs with basil leaf motif, the shepherd’s hook with (on sale steal) crystal chandelier/candelabra, and natural strung rope hammock! My garden is the PERFECT place for dining and entertaining. Bocce too! Do come see us! I am just so grateful that I can SEE! That my vision returned from blindness, along with my color vision. That I am alive at all! A miracle and a blessing! See the others in the series /
