  • “Always glancing skywards wishing for the brief appearance of a bird, I started discovering nests built in unusual yet very convenient places from the bird’s point of view. / / “In a display of urban adaptation, these nests follow the shape of the element containing them, in most cases, huge billboard letters of the round and cosy type.” / / Image and text © Carmen Mandel-Cesáreo / / / —-—-—-—-— / Artist statement / My photographs are not enhanced; they represent the true nature and colours of the subjects as captured by the lens. I never lure my animated subjects to come close to me: spontaneity is the key. / / ========================================================= / All proceeds from the sale of this piece of artwork will be donated to: / / Migratory Birds of the Great Lakes / / Wetland conservation is key to the survival of the Sparrow. / / —-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-——- / Carmen, creator of Art for Conservation

  • This hornet’s nest isn’t something you want to walk up to and hit with a stick. They can be real persistent about taking revenge. They seem to know where a bullet came from when you shoot into one also. Giving up, just isn’t something they do readily. Just one can bring up many whelps a whole nest could kill you, whether you’re allergic to them or not……I remember years ago while some of us were out hunting in the winter, we came upon one. One of the guys decided since they were no hornets around it, to cut it down and take home. He just threw it in the back of the truck and put it in the shed, which was heated, when he got home. He called a few hours later to tell about the whelps he had and shed full of angry hornets. They were dormant in the nest till it heated up to room temperature. Seemed like all of them decided to come out and show they didn’t appreciate their new home…...Image taken in Cades Cove, Great Smoky Mountain NP

  • / “Dervish 2 is inspired by DiEtte Henderson’s Congratulations but is also another version of my painting “Dervish” which is part of the first “Journey” Series, and seen below... See the story of “The Journey” HERE and HERE / “The Journey”...Series 1 is a story of travellers told in paintings with short captions like the one on the left…the links above will take you to all the paintings with the story…(not to be confused with the Journey 2 which is a totally different story)... I created this as an abstract realism piece, setting it at night this time, but with a lot of light focused on the entwined very loose brush strokes of heightened colour ...... Watercolour embellished with Gold Leaf on Arches Not Paper… I am not a scholar, / I am not a saint, / I have seen sadness swallow / Seamless visions of restraint, / The tear that floats through darkness / Oozing nectar from the soul, / Is as the hummingbird darting yonder / Whirling DERVISH of the vine, / Dipping bill in honied geyser / Sweetest lips of fuchsian wine, / Sylph’s heart pounding sunder / Beating wings of dissent / Imbibing breath of wonder / Deifies crashing descent. S.K.Lindeman.. / Dervish
