This white flowering Eucalypt caught my eye. It was actually in a carpark and our car was parked under it. I love how my interest in photography invokes me to notice these things that others walk on by. It allows me to see the beauty in the world around me.

The glowing golden centre and the radiating violet-blue petals belong to a very fine specimen of Nymphaea violacea (Water Lily), a very common Australian native water plant. The photograph was made as I was sitting on a little jetty over a large pond on the property of a Port Macquarie Panthers Camera Club friend at Kundabung, between Kempsey and Port Macquarie, NSW, Australia, on a lovely autumn day. laying on the ground shooting macros again, this large-flowered white trillium and large flower bellwort were growing side by side, and nope, the shot isnt upside down, the bellwort grows that way :) / shot this macro using a nikon diopter lens attached to a canon 75-300mm lens / thanks to tom biggs, and his buddy harold ross jr, for turning me on to this new location to shoot. this was in the smoky mountains on the north carolina side This shot won the April Photo contest held by the Knoxville News Sentinal newspaper in Knoxville Tn / Contest titled….Spring Scene Photo Contest 2009 :)

This is what the rhododendron looks like in full bloom. native to the great smoky mountains, millions in this area. it starts to bloom in the 2nd week of june, but it’s at it’s peak the later part of june. / before it starts to bloom its full of tight buds, resembling a avacado, then it each one starts to open, and this is the result / best time to shoot this flower is in low lighting. any other time of day you will pretty much end up with blown/washed out flowers about 100% of the time. / my other shot of the buds is here come the rhodies / if you want an idea of what it looks like before it blooms completely

A silhouette of a native Australian ‘black boy’ (Xanthorrhoea Quadrangulata) at Mount Barker Summit. The Black Boy is for me quite an iconic Australian Native. I have used earthy tones in the background to compliment it, and as a representation of some of the wonderful vibrant earthy colours of OZ.

It’s Winter in Australia, which means the Wattle is beginning to bloom. In my area we’ll soon be surrounded by a sea of bouncing little balls of yellow…... This little pink flower has been lit with a pencil torch. Tetratheca setigera. tThe family is a native plant consisting of 39 species of evergreen shrubs with nodding 4 to 6 petalled flowers, in pink mauve, purple and sometimes white. / Tetratheca Setigera is a shrub found in the SW of Western Australia and has pink petals with a dark centre. Found in the banksia woodlands near Yarloop in Western Australia
