White tail deer in a tall grass field at West Beach. Not a whole lot of time to capture these three some had to use the roof of my car as a tripod LOL no time to setup lighting was terrible hands shaking LOL I was so excited but I think I manage to salvage the image using Photoshop Elements and Gimp. This location at Mammoth Springs in Yellowstone National Park was really captivating as the evening light set off the colors of the orange and white terraces and the deep rich tones of the lodge pole pines. The remnants of trees are reported to be as much as 2000 years old but remain standing, preserved by the mineral deposits that flowed up from the hot interior of the earth which remains active from volcanoes that created this wonderland after erupting 600,000+ years ago. /

If I could offer one single piece of photography advice, it would be – “Take far more shots than you need. Make sure its ‘in the can’, instead of wishing you’d done things differently.” Looking back through my folders I found some ‘handy looking’ Infrared exposures I’d made of the cooling towers at Thorpe Marsh last summer… Lightly HDR’d to lose some of the flare and finished, without too much fuss, using a subtle blue tone.

Today’s hike on windswept snow in part of the Chugach mountain range, Alaska, overlapping state and national parks. Alaska ~ Beyond Your Dreams featured – Thank you! Nikon D200 and a Nikkor 18-70 at 18mm at f/9 and 1/1250 sec, -.3ev. Using a circular polarizing filter. / Converted from RAW to jpeg using Capture NX2. Light curve added. Otherwise, as is. Constructive comments welcomed, i.e., too much foreground, foreground too angled? Not enough interest unless one is there in the wind and cold air, breathing in nature and silence? Okay to comment; I have 6GBs of shots remaining.
ngleborough is the second highest mountain in the Yorkshire Dales. It is one of the Yorkshire Three Peaks, the other two being Whernside and Pen-y-ghent. Ingleborough is frequently climbed as part of the Three Peaks Challenge, which is a 24 mile (38 km) circular challenge walk starting and finishing in Horton in Ribblesdale. The second part of the name Ingleborough is derived from the Old English word burh, meaning “fort on the hill”. On the top of Ingleborough the remains of an old walled enclosure has been discovered inside which foundations of Iron Age huts have been found.Ingleborough is situated in the south-western corner of the Yorkshire Dales, being at the highest point of a large triangle of land with corners at Ingleton, Ribblehead and Settle. This is from White Sands National Monument in New Mexico. It’s a really amazing place; out in the middle of nowhere there’s just this huge expanse of pure white sand that looks like snow. With a warm climate and usually cloudless blue skies, it’s a great place to take photos.

This is the delightfully named Beggar’s Bridge on the outskirts of Glaisdale in North Yorkshire in the North York Moors National Park, crossing the River Esk. Built for love, the contrasting shadow and light across the bridge, provides a wonderful metaphor for the path of life and love. Converted into pinhole black and white
Taken on the Glaisdale to Egton road in North Yorkshire in the North York Moors National Park, looking back towards the Moors above Goathland and the valley of the River Esk.
