/ I just got back from spending the last 3 days on Mt. Rainier and had to process one image before I go to bed. Every visitor to the park has an image of Mt. Rainier from this view point at Reflection Lake but not too many are willing to be on the mountain before sunrise to catch the first rays of the sun. This is my verson of everyone’s photograph of Mount Rainier at Reflection Lake. This image was processed as a HDR image.

USA, Montana, Glacier National Park, Saint Mary Lake. Shot this in July 2005 during a camping trip there. Just my little digital Kodak Easy Share camera that takes awesome images. Using Photoshop, I adjusted the levels and saturation a bit to see the bark of the tree better. One of my favorite pictures I’ve taken. Perfectly Framed View was featured on October 14, 2008 in the group / Montana: The Treasure State Have sold a laminated print of this image. Glacier National Park Series / /
Early mourning is so calming and peaceful. The fog that has shrouded the landscape is slowly lifting. Nature seems to be in slow motion and hush. Sit and enjoy what God has gave you. Let nature enfold completely, your whole being, completely covering you with its serenity……..Cades Cove GSMNP

One of those occasions when everything slips into place. / A strange thing to encounter, the fiercest of heat, while gazing up at an immense mountain and its glaciers, knowing that you are on the Equator ! / Taken with a Canon EOS40D. Taken whilst driving in Monga National Park near Braidwood NSW on River Forest Road. It was about lunch time, the sun had been shining and all of a sudden in came the cloud and the rain. Was a bit eerie out there as there didn’t seem to be another soul around. Taken with a Sony A350

It’s Winter in Australia, which means the Wattle is beginning to bloom. In my area we’ll soon be surrounded by a sea of bouncing little balls of yellow…... Did you know : / - Wattle is Australia’s official floral emblem, having adorned our Coat Of Arms since 1912. / - there are around 950 different species of Wattle….. which is why I have no clue as to which one this is! / - On 1 September 1910 the Sydney Morning Herald stated: / “To many Australians the wattle stands for home, country, kindred, sunshine and love; every instinct that the heart most deeply enshrines.”........ nice :) [canon 1000D, canon scanner for texture, PS watercolour] WINNER – Wattle challenge – October 2009
A single tree stands high above Great Langdale in the Cumbrian Lake District, against the passing rain clouds, while (OK squint and view the large version lol ) a small flock of birds circle against the clouds. The light just broke through below the tree as I raised the camera. Each time I deliver to the Old Dungeon Ghyll, I always check to see if it has survived the passing seasons.
Please view large / Murchison River in Kalbarri National Park, Western Australia. The shot taken with the NDX400 filter hence the effect of roots growing into water that I really like! I was perched on the end of the tree so I couldn’t really stay there much longer and I wish I took few more shot from that perspective. Canon 5D / Canon EF 24-105 IS Lens / Apperture: F 13 / Speed: 25 seconds / FL: 24 / Hoya NDX400 filter
Tree Skeletons shot at Dawn, in Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming, USA, reflected in a pool. I shot this before the sun broke through the mist, as I liked the blueness emphasising the coldness – there was a few degrees of frost that morning. / The image I processed from a RAW file, I felt was a little plain, so I gave it a touch of Orton, which drew out the dead tree silhouettes. Still not happy, I added a texture, to enhance the fog, not too much, since I didn’t want to spoil the ‘soft’ feel of the image. / I can recall the quietness of the early morning as I stood in awe of Mother Nature’s magic ! Shot on my Canon Eos 40D, mounted on tripod, f23, 1/60 sec, / no exposure compensation, the meter read the scene correctly, auto wb, RAW file processed in Adobe RAW, then in CS3, Orton applied with reduced opacities, and a texture, downloaded for free off the internet someplace, applied with discretion, by again reducing opacities etc. SEE MORE OF MY USA SET ….
This little painting is the result of an oil sketch I did when I was in Katoomba recently. I love how when you drive or walk around Katoomba (or the other villages of the upper mountains) you often turn a corner or crest a hill and you find yourself confronted by the most spectacular view. There are a few spots which I really love. Whenever I was on my way to work (or whatever), these glimpses would energise me for the day ahead… reminding me of where we were… in a City within a World Heritage National Park. The way that civilisation exists along a narrow plateau which gives way to mountains and valleys also fascinates me. I often feel that Mother Nature is being incredibly generous in allowing our towns to flourish here… although she does remind us who’s boss occasionally…! This is the view across South Katoomba from the Mountain Heritage Carpark at the top of Lovel St Katoomba. Oil on Canvas / 40.5×30.5
Saint Mary Lake, Glacier National Park, Montana, USA. Where else would you want to be on a morning like this ? The Elk were bugling across the Lake, it was warm, the air was very still, reflections all around me, gorgeous mountains everywhere…......... / felt like I was in heaven !! / All I had to do was get down a very steep bank on the lakeside – then get back up, Help !! / Magic ! Shot on my Canon EOS 40D, mounted on tripod, polarising filter attached, f22, 1/15 sec, iso 100, auto wb, shot at 50mm on my 18-55mm lens, RAW file processed in Adobe Camera RAW, then CS3 with tweaks in levels/curves and selective colour.
