Wet weather creek on the Tennessee side of the Great Smoky Mountain NP.The Smokies is a wonderful place to be when is snowing. Often they will be snow there and no where else in the state…. Caution should be used when crossing over the top or traveling on Little River Road which is narrow with the river at its edge most the way.

Canon EOS 20D, EF-S 17-85mm f/4-5.6 IS USM, Focal Length: 33mm, Shutter Speed: 0.3s This white water cascade caught my eye while running across a little footbridge near the end of the Tongariro Crossing trail. The low light (and slightly out of breath photographer) made it difficult to take the photo without a tripod, but this is where the image stabiliser function on the lens really helped out. I would have liked to see what the result would have been with a tripod and longer exposure, but I was happy with the outcome especially with an offhand shot.

Blossom’s_Photo_Gallery Rex Creek Swing Bridge World Heritage, Mossman Gorge, Daintree National Park, Far North Queensland, Australia. Much of the 56,500ha Mossman Gorge Section of Daintree National Park includes rugged, largely inaccessible slopes of the Main Coast Range and Carbine Tableland, adjoining Mt Windsor and Mt Lewis. It is these steep mountain ranges that trap moisture blown in from the ocean and ensure frequent rainfall, maintaining the rainforest and ultimately feeding the Mossman and Daintree Rivers. Tall, dense rainforests clothe the lowlands and stunted windswept rainforests occupy the mountaintops. To the west of the Main Coast Range, open forest and woodlands grow on the drier western slopes. The park provides a home for a wonderful variety of rainforest animals including tree-kangaroos, musky rat-kangaroos and Boyd’s forest dragons. Over millions of years, the Mossman River has carved a steep-sided valley from the upper reaches to the coastal lowlands. Through this valley, crystal clear water cascades amongst large granite boulders which have been washed down from the hills during times of heavy flood. The Mossman Gorge Section is part of the traditional lands of the Kuku Yalanji people. Canon PowerShot A650 IS / 12.1MP – 6x Optical Zoom – 4x Digital Zoom

I visited Yosemite back in 1992. Since this was a family vacation with 3 little kids in tow (my 2 sons and my sister’s son) we didn’t do any major hiking. Even so, the sights we saw were wondrous all the same. Ektachrome film Olympus OM2

A beautiful setting of a stream in Sequoia National Park. There is a small visual of a deer in the middle of the picture by one of the logs, but he’s definitely camouflaged in this shot!
