  • In the reflection of Lake McKenzie. A friend and I chose to spend our Easter weekend on the Routeburn Track, one of the “Great Walks” in New Zealand. We had three days on the trail and two nights in a tent, camping in some of the most pristine spots in NZ. This image was taken at dawn, just a short walk away from where we were camping.

High Dam can be easily reached along a well-marked footpath from the National Trust car park beneath. It is a tranquil tarn and you can often find yourself alone out of season.The tarn used to provide the water power for bobbin-making at nearby Stott Park Bobbin Mill.
