Bull elk resting in snow bank after dining upon willow brush along Black Creek in Yellowstone Park.
I ran across a herd of buffalo walking right down the middle of the road. They didn’t seem to pay attention to the numerous cars on the roadway…neither did the people in the cars as they were all out taking pictures. Yellowstone National Park, Montana
Quickly approaching storm casts an erie feel to lighting It is a picture of the white part of Travertine Terraces as seen at Mammoth Hot Springs in the northwest corner of Yellowstone National Park. Travertine is a form of calcium carbonate that is dissolved from limestone beneath the ground. It is then carried to the surface by hot water. The colors represent a variety of bacterial algae that survive at varous water temperatures. In this case, the white is so bright, it is almost blinding. The clouds and aproaching storm create great contrast. Editing to picture: White Balance, Light Contrast, Unsharpen Mask, Noise Removal. No color, saturation, or hue adjustments. This is not a computer image or a fake, a fluke maybe, but not a fake. Thanks for looking! Other Samples of my work are displayed below.
Yellowstone – Summer 2008 enjoy :)
During the height of a fall rut a majestic bull elk displays a proud posture among a field of dry grass. I especially like the small bird along for a ride on his back.
Yellowstone is for wolves
Snow covered tree, in this case called a ghost tree, in the Midway Geyser Basin of Yellowstone National Park. The trees become this way due to the steam from the various thermal features. The steam freezes on the trees while allowing snow to accumulate more than normal. Image taken with a Nikon D200 and Tokina 12-24mm F4.0 lens.

Located in Black Sand Basin in Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming, USA. / Emerald Pool is the most alluring feature at Black Sand and is not a geyser at all but a broad hot spring that gets its dreamy transluscent greenness from cyanobacteria living on the crater walls. / It is a deep emerald green color with yellow and orange fringes forming the outer ring of the pool. The color is the result of a lower temperature, 154.6 degrees Fahrenheit, which have allowed yellow bacteria and algae to grow on the lining of the pool. The clear water of the pool reflects the blues but asborbs the other hues of the color spectrum, and the combination produces its green color. The outer ring is a fringe of yellow and orange, where the temperatures are cooler due to a change in bacteria and algae growth. Canon XSi, 18-55mm lens, f/8, 1/400 sec, ISO-200, 18mm.

/ in the group # 1 ARTISTS OF REDBUBBLE ! September 2009 Silex Spring is one of the colorful sights on the “Fountain Paint Pot tour”. The boardwalk weaves around each of the geysers and colorful springs and mud pots on this short walking tour in Yellowstone National Park. The fountain paint pot walking tour is one of the first stops after entering the park from West Yellowstone and turning toward Old Faithful Lodge. We didn’t have time to stop at every walking tour, but I was glad we stopped here to see this beautiful aqua colored spring
