  • Great Egret photographed at Merritt Island, Florida.

  • The Open Range Colorado is a land of ever changing weather and scenery, often when you are up in the high country (as the locals here call it) storms have the ability to roll in seemingly out of no where, with little or no warning at all. It is a land of ever changing weather, and as they say, “Welcome to Colorado, wait 10 minutes and the weather will change!”—ya, that basically fits the scene here. Captured in Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado

  • Diamond Peak in Crater Lake National Park, Oregon.

  • Image of the Grand Canyon south rim Arizona.

  • Wild pony on the sand dunes of Assateague Island.

  • I just love Rocky Mountain National Park, spose I always have and always will, though I have to admit that at times I wish we had more clouds in the skies here in Colorado, but I suppose the infamous blues make up for that. The Rockies here just seemed so alive…in that morning light.,...damn that air is fresh I tell ya folks! Anyways, thoughts welcomed, processed in HDR

  • Fall isn’t to be out done by Spring with all the new beginnings and shades of green. • The Superb Lyrebird is an amazing mimic. / Copying numerous bird calls and other / sounds of the forest. To stand in a forest / watching (or listening to) a Lyrebird is / an unforgetable experience. Read more about my wildlife photography here

  • Painted en Plein Air / at Lane Cove national Park, N.S.W Acrylic on canvas / 2007 / Beautifully framed / For Sale $500 (not including postage/packaging) By Lane Cove River… / (As a kid I spent many hours roaming through this park, our house backed onto it and I’ve always had good times there! / This site – where I am standing – is where my wedding reception was – in a marquee on a gorgeous very HOT January day a while ago now)

  • Sunset on the Yosemite Valley.

  • Sometimes, not often enough in my opinion, I am lucky to get to Rocky Mountain National Park in Colorado at first light and this was one of those times. Just as the sun started hitting Long’s Peak, I almost ran the car off the road, to park and run in the back seat for my tripod…had to be done! Let me know what ya think! / —-John

  • Yosemite Valley, California, taken in Northern California. / Canon Powershot SD200 Not just a great Valley… / but a shrine to human foresight, strength of granite, power of glaciers, the persistence of life, and the tranquility of the High Sierra. / Yosemite National Park, one of the first wilderness parks in the United States, is best known for its waterfalls, but within its nearly 1,200 square miles, you can find deep valleys, grand meadows, ancient giant sequoias, a vast wilderness area, and much more. / / / /

  • The early morning sun and fog move on and around El Capitan.

  • We should be as water… which is lower than all things… yet stronger even than the rocks…. Oglala Lakota (Sioux) Lion Slide Falls is located outside of Redding, in Northern Calfornia… it’s also called Hatchet Creek Falls by locals….

  • First Light of The Lord Watching this sunrise come up in Rocky Mountain National Park was akin to witnessing paradise unfold before your eyes. Without a doubt, one of the most beautiful and stunning sunrises I have seen in a long while. The way the Alpineglow reflected against the mountains was amazing, the color changing ever so quickly, it seemed to change color as fast as I could hold down the shutter. / Hope ya all like it! Tell me what ya think! / —-John More can be seen on my website at jdebordphoto.com

  • This image was taken during an awesome hike in Zion National Park (South Western Corner of UTAH ) near the Observation Point, an 8 miles retour hike with lots of vertical to climb. The view is absolutely amazing and if you have the chance of being alone at this point, you can hear the wind coming down the corridor and up the hills. You’ll probably have a few chipmucks looking for food around your feet and a few lizards enjoying the heat of the sun on the orange rocks. / This was our second trip to Zion and we fully took it in with nice long hikes and beautiful views. It’s simply unreal and makes you ground yourself quite nicely. / As the weeks go by and I have a chance to edit and play around with all my images, I’ll post various images of our trip that had us hiking over 160 miles in many beautiful American National and State parks. HDR image (photomatix), composed on 3 bracketed images / Canon Xt with my Sigma 17-35mm 2.8 / Handheld as well Better viewed full screen / Cheers / seb

The Fenland Trail in the morning affords a good opportunity to see wildlife moving around the marsh and river areas. This trail connects to the Bow River Trail which actually goes all the way into Banff townsite proper. If you have time, this is a nice easy walk to get to this area without actually having to drive to get to it. The Vermillion Lakes are slightly to the west of the Fenland Trail and you can either walk to them or drive your car and use the pulloffs available. It’s a bit noisy being so close to the Trans Canada Hwy, but the scenery more than makes up for it. Throughout the day you’ll see numerous waterfowl frequenting the area. The real draw, however, is in the evening when the winds are low and the water is still, making the lake surface a mirror reflection of the now beautifully lit Mt Rundle in the background. Nikon D100 Sigma 15/30

  • Mama bear and her cubs had been run up a tree by a very aggressive male. I wish I had got a shot of him but was movin to quick for the low light in the woods. The bear seemed more abundant in the Cove this year. Bears are wild animals and should be treated with respect. The large male wasn’t too tolerable of anything, and could have attacked at any moment. You may see a dozen bears in the Cove that pay you no mind, but it just takes one like the aggressive male to kill you. The day I made this I had seen 11 different bear….Black Bear, ursus americanus… ….Shot was taken in Cades Cove area of the Great Smoky Mountain National Park

  • I always wanted a “classic” kind of Elk shot, where one can see the steam coming out of their nose and mouth after the Bugle, with snow falling and such, and I think I finally was able to get it ! He gave us a lot of good shots, I will say that! Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado Minolta 5D & Tamron 200-400mm lens

  • Yosemite National Park, CA

  • Looking north up the length of Jordan Pond…the twin peaks (yes, they look like…) in the center are ‘The Bubbles’...the mountain to the left in frame is Penobscot Mountain…the mountain to the right in frame is Pemetic Mountain…a cold, and very windy day, this pond is very protected; it is usually very calm…one of the most popular places, on one of the busiest weekends of the year for tourists, but I could still get shots without people…nice place! / This area is easily accessible, with carriage roads, a great walking path around the lake, a natural amphitheater, and an excellent (and usually crowded) restaurant… Jordan Pond, Acadia National Park, Mt.
